I ask because it's the complete opposite of my own experience with RSC.

I had my father's 1979 Datejust serviced as a gift. It had started to run poorly since it hadn't been serviced in 30 years and never by Rolex themselves.
Rolex took it in and agreed to service it.
About two weeks later, they called me and said "There are some non-Rolex parts in there. We'll be replacing them. I asked which parts, they said it was the crystal, the handset and one of the bracelet links."
Two weeks after that, they called me to get the watch back, all serviced and with the usual one-year warranty on the work.

As I understand, RSC in the USA is much stricter than the ones in Europe. Maybe they don't have as big of a parts warehouse for older models.

I was told that servicing anything fifty years or younger is feasible, but after that there's a matter of parts availability so there can be no guarantees. The watch itself probably matters, as well, like if it's a common watch like an OP, DJ or Sub, or a particularly rare watch like a star-dial 6062.

I've had a love-hate relationship with Citizen; sometimes I think they get their design dead-on, but most of the time there always seems to be a 'growth' somewhere.

I'd say there's no reason not to try to get a great vintage if you are up to getting it running well. From what I understand, the older movements are still better in reliability than the Seagull, and if you're going to have the aviation watch at all, then you should have the fly-back capability. I don't think the Seagull does that, or at least, the Venus movement they use in every microbrand doesn't. Good luck!

It's a deliberately polarizing design. The hands are strange, the nipple dial is strange, along with the huge amount of empty space on the dial. I think Blancpain did this because the original Bathyscaphe has been so frequently copied that they felt they could go in a completely new direction.
For example, the Seiko 62MAS, the first Seiko diver, is just a straight copy of the Bathyscaphe of the time.

I guess they sell pretty well, though, for a company that doesn't make a lot of watches per year.
