I hate how there are so few interesting watch designs. And when there is one it's an expensive special edition THAT IS ALSO TOO BIG FOR MY WRIST.

All the micropenis brands just create slop that looks like an existing design but with slightly different details.

Ive seen people asking for an alternative of a Cartier tank but cheaper and people always suggest similar shaped Seikos, etc.

Why does nobody recommend these? They can be easily found for under 1000 (i got mine for 500ish), its an actual Cartier tank, 925 silver, etc.

Am I missing something? I feel that if you like Cartier and don’t want to spend thousands of dollars, these are must (pun very intended)

Must de Cartier watches are dogshit. It's not an actual Cartier. They're cheaply made price-point watches released in a desperate attempt to get some cash infusion to a struggling business.
It's Cartier in the same way Armani Exchange is Armani.

Think about it this way: if people wanted them, there wouldn't be thousands of them for sale at rock-bottom prices.

That's a good way to put it. That is, of course, why they put "Must de Cartier" on the dial, so people who spent money on a proper Cartier wouldn't get upset.

In truth, it actually hurt Cartier's business as much as it helped, because it killed off a lot of the exclusivity that Cartier used to have.

it's a couple bucks for the movement, even though Cartier's quartz movements are quite good.
The rest of it is design, craftsmanship and brand prestige.
All the watches similar to that you can get for cheaper also look shittier and are made more poorly.

Not especially. Quartz allows the watch to be very thin without using an expensive, fragile, ultrathin movement. The watch doesn't have a seconds hand anyway, so you don't have the telltale ticking. The battery lasts like 8 years too.

You definitely pay for them if you go full price, just for a miyota 9039, but mine was +1 out the box and hasn't let me down since I've had it. Great customer support too.
Only negatives would be price and resell I guess, but they're gaining so much in popularity these days that the resell will probably go up, especially on the LEs. They are stocked in some stores around the place if you can find an AD near you to try them on. There's heaps of videos on youtube about the good and the bad of each model.

I can not remain silent any longer. It pains me dearly watching such mighty name as Bulova being managed by a bunch of drooling retards.
They have Lunar Pilot, which we will get back to later, okay-ish Devil Diver and then we have this embarrassment. Who is the target audience of this? Niggers, whos hiphop album hasn't become popular? This need to be removed from their lineup alltogether, it is disgraceful.
Moving forward we have the Lunar Pilot. It has potential to be the greatest watch ever made, but again it is being ruined by retards in Citizen. They made it comically huge and added stupid date window. Current gen is not much better, it is still too big, it needs to be much smaller both in diameter and girth. Then they put it on an god awful bracelet and an ugly leather strap. Both are wrong, the only acceptable option is the NASA style strap they had on previous gens.
Next we have the movement. I am ok with it being quartz, it is good movement, but of course it had to be desinged by imbeciles. Okay, one of the selling points of your movement is the smooth sweeping second hand, just like on a mechanical watch. And then they made it that you can't see the sweeping second hand movement unless using a chronograph. This decision alone is so fucking retarded on so many levels i feel like it was sabotage from the citizen executives.
They have on their hand a watch that can be fastest selling watch in history if it was just tiny bit better. Fuck.

Back then a watch on a bracelet was more commonly seen on a women's watch. Most men's watches from the time came on straps. As trends changed over the 60s and 70s, a bracelet became more fashionable, as things got less formal and more casual. Sports watches on bracelets replaced the dress watch on a strap.

I'm a fat dude so can't totally emphathize with you there, but I will say that while I don't totally buy the "lug to lug is more important than width" meme, the tunas wear very differently than the widths might suggest due to short/integrated lugs. Worth trying on if you can find one local to you.

I did like the street series they ones they released. Thought the brown was sort of dope, but couldn't pull the trigger.

> dogshit movements and entry level finishing

I agree, but having owned an MM300 and the emperor tuna, I loved em both, but the more I look at seiko, it seems clear to me that they are at their best value as an entry-level brand.

Again, love the tuna and its original design, but its hard af to go for a seiko in the same price bracket as used cartier/rolex/omega

depends how cheap. Sometimes they're simply bits of glass, other times they'll be colorless bits of ZrO2 (cubic zirconia), corundum (sapphire).

Diamonds in a men's watch is always tricky. It's extremely difficult to pull off but it can be done in the right circumstance. Most people are better off just avoiding it altogether.

Just as an aside, the S-D is a great watch, but square watches don't fit the same way as round watches. Before you buy, go to your local Cartier AD, if you have one, and try out the different sizes. You usually end up having to get a size smaller than you think.

For example, the size L, which is 31mm across, wears closer to a 40mm watch. The diagonal from top-left to bottom-right is nearly 44mm.

If you don't have a Cartier AD, make a little cardboard cutout of the watch and try it on your wrist.

The Casio F-201 is objectively the best watch. Very clean display, slightly larger than the F-91, with mm-dd date and day name. Stopwatch. Countdown timer with repetition. Up to 5 alarms can be set to repeat on specific days or throughout specific months. Weighs only 24 grams. Costs only $15. Just don't hold it underwater for too long.

Going to get ripped off buying a diamond for my gf's (soon-to-be fiancee's) ring.

If she wants to save you money, she'll go for the shitty diamond. The answer probably depends more on her friends. If they know diamonds or if they're white trash that just goes for carats.

A truly flawless, colorless, ideally cut, 1 ct round brilliant is going to be around 20k USD.

Yeah, they want your business. If a guy needs to make his sales numbers at the end of the month, he'll make it worth your while. They have to compete with the website on customer service. If that means they give you a free strap instead of watching you walk out the door to "think it over" then it's a win in their books.
Moreover, if you like the place, that's where you'll go when, say, you're looking to buy a gift for your gf. (Girls love the red Cartier box.)

When the spergs bitch about forming a relationship with your AD, this is literally how you do it.
Then when, a couple years down the road, some limited edition like the Tank Chinoise comes around, they'll make sure they get one for you.

A ton of it is markup taking advantage of the fact that real diamonds command such a high cost, but there is still more to it than microwaving graphite powder.
The resultant crystal still has to be jewelry-grade. The process to make perfectly pure carbon crystal hasn't been perfected yet so even lab grown diamonds have shit tons of flaws.
The stone also needs to be cut and that can't be done by a machine yet either. A skilled gemcutter will command a pretty high rate for his labor.

The problem with lab grown diamonds is that they have zero resale value.

Sure, they're chemically identical to mined diamonds, but as soon as they check the stone's serial number, they realize it's lab-grown and therefore worth nothing.
A lot of jewelers and diamond dealers outright refuse to take them in trade, even if they sell lab-grown diamonds.

So, sure, a lab grown stone may cost 2000 compared to an equivalent mined stone being 5000, but if you ever want to upgrade your stone, you have nothing to trade in. Dealers will always take mined diamonds.

To make sure that it's not a conflict diamond or stolen property, every "legal" diamond (manmade or natural) has a tiny serial number etched onto it with a laser. That way you can trace the path the diamond took from the ground to the ring on your finger.

2k is about what they're worth.
As always, vet the seller as much as the watch itself.
Make sure that it's got the boxes and the papers.
Make sure all the serial numbers match up.
If it's been serviced, make sure it was Cartier that did the service, not Johnny at the Watch Stop with his aggressive buffing wheel.
If it seems like a deal too good to be true, it is.

The watch itself is cool, though. It will wear about the same as a 34mm Rolex Air King, but it's very shiny so it will still be prominent. Any bigger and it would look blingy.
