Haven't looked into them, but here's what I know off-hand (within your criteria, of course)

1) Stabilizing second hand, so that it always strikes the indices.
2) +/- 10 seconds a year inaccuracy.
3) 3 year battery life
4) Instant-change for the date mechanism.

If you love the design aesthetic of GS, you can't go wrong with this as a practical daily. The finishing will be excellent as always, and you should be able to set it and forget it. I'd say that the only downside is that you'll have to replace the battery, and it won't be as accurate as other HAQs or mechanicals.

Does that help at all? I'm sure there are other Anons here who would know more.

What you're doing now is perfect; educate with pics. For instance, why does the Raketa on the left have a '0' for 12? Is it a design thing, a cost-saving thing, or something else? Do they keep decent time? What made you want to get Raketa in the first place? It would be interesting to know...

>>17922568
There are many here who know more about high-accuracy quartz watches and movements. Seiko and Citizen compete in this arena and dominate as a result compared with quartz offerings from the Swiss, so that's definitely where to start. Citizen will give you the 'solar HAQ' options that are reliable, but then again the question always comes up, 'how long will the movement last until you have to replace the whole thing?'.

I'm sure other Anons who have and advocate for HAQs here will chime in; do you have specific questions and/or concerns? For instance:

1) Are you looking to buy one? If so, what do you want out of it?
2) Are you more interested in the development and history of HAQs?
3) Are you trying to figure out where to buy used or new ones, especially models that might be Japan-only and thus more difficult to get in countries outside?

Stuff like this; try narrowing it down a bit and I'm sure HAQ-anons will surface. There are Anons here who are experts with the Seikos, for instance, who could guide you well to a first HAQ that is reliable, beautiful, and yet reasonably affordable.

Finally; I will advocate for the aforementioned watch you asked me not to mention. There are many reasons I bought it, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. They do put the movement in more models now, which makes it easier to get with more variety. That is all I'll say.

I can not remain silent any longer. It pains me dearly watching such mighty name as Bulova being managed by a bunch of drooling retards.
They have Lunar Pilot, which we will get back to later, okay-ish Devil Diver and then we have this embarrassment. Who is the target audience of this? Niggers, whos hiphop album hasn't become popular? This need to be removed from their lineup alltogether, it is disgraceful.
Moving forward we have the Lunar Pilot. It has potential to be the greatest watch ever made, but again it is being ruined by retards in Citizen. They made it comically huge and added stupid date window. Current gen is not much better, it is still too big, it needs to be much smaller both in diameter and girth. Then they put it on an god awful bracelet and an ugly leather strap. Both are wrong, the only acceptable option is the NASA style strap they had on previous gens.
Next we have the movement. I am ok with it being quartz, it is good movement, but of course it had to be desinged by imbeciles. Okay, one of the selling points of your movement is the smooth sweeping second hand, just like on a mechanical watch. And then they made it that you can't see the sweeping second hand movement unless using a chronograph. This decision alone is so fucking retarded on so many levels i feel like it was sabotage from the citizen executives.
They have on their hand a watch that can be fastest selling watch in history if it was just tiny bit better. Fuck.

I got interested in Soviet watches in general. it's like a hidden world of competitive factories that the average westerner knows nothing about.

There is nothing I can do about it either. Despite being so seemingly oversharing with my private life, I am actually a paranoid little fucker. I don't have a static ip and I use browsers that delete the cookies and cache everytime I close them, a specific "well known" firefox fork. Webrtc is off and the usual vpn-router shenanigans. Now the problem with that is, I can just close my browser, wait 3 minutes and post again, if I get banned. And because it's not possible for me to Not ban-evade, I can not appeal to my ban after 3 days. That's why I offered to not post for 72 hours, which I did. And for a while it seemed like the mods/jannies unofficially agreed. But then I got reported (probably) by the dozens and got banned again. So I am stuck in this infinite loop. I will be gone soon anyway, so maybe after I come back from Japan or while being there, I will be able to appeal the ban, the original ban that was more than 1 month ago at this point.

I didn't wear anything else since the day I bought it. I think I wore the tudor once actually ever since.
The bracelet is OKAY but a bit disappointing compared to the rest. It's twice as thick than my other watches and it is very shinny, but not for a 5 digit watch. They went all out with the dial, movement and Le zaratsu I guess. It doesn't feel like an afterthought but a butterfly clasp should be standard at this price point. My credor has one, the Tudor too. So why not this one? Also, while it does have screws and tiny links to adjust it for a perfect fit, it should have a micro adjustment feature.
The case, dial and movement are a 10. The bracelet/clasp are a 6.
Eight days and counting and it hasn't lost a single second so far.

I find it strange that they removed the polished parts of the bracelet in the White Birch. It's a nice contrast.

Also I think the lack of microadjust is overstated. The small links are not half links but more like 2/3-links. That means you can adjust it in ~ 3mm steps by swapping two small links with one full link. Yeah, a butterfly clasp would be nice

Seiko’s old advantage was that they were better than anything else at their price point. They weren’t the best watches but they were as good as pieces that cost more than them.

Over the last few years Seiko has been raising prices but the quality has not kept up. (Still garbage accuracy, still misaligned chapter rings and bezels, still mineral glass crystals)

Now, a Seiko is, in some cases, a worse value proposition than some Swiss watches; and the gap grows as you go higher in price.

Gun makers do this with guns for women, too, they take a small gun and cover it with pink and pearlescent bullshit. Fucking brilliant, and as far as I can see this is the only watch they use this movement in. But what do they do? They put their shitty fake blue glitter pearlescent bullshit all over the whole dial with low contrast silver text that all blends with the silver hands so you can't fucking read anything, put shitty little fake diamonds as indexes, make the crown a shitty diamond shape... It's fucking horrible. The other color versions are slightly less bad in the dial but then you have to put up with shitty fake gold accents with your fake diamonds. It's embarrassing.

Lol. Lmao, even.

I don't see the point of these mid sizes. 37mm or bust, my watch has a 42mm lug to lug.

The Milgauss looks cool but wears poorly. It’s way too thick because of the Faraday cage. 13.5mm is Omega thick.

Agreed. It’s too big, too thick, too shiny. It’s unpopular for a reason, like the Air King.
The only reason it gets any hype at all is because people think it will be discontinued and that will make it more valuable.

There's not really any reason to buy a Milgauss anymore because more and more watches are using silicon springs and escapements that resist magnetic fields without the added bulk. Although it would be interesting if they offered different colored sapphire crystals on other watches.

Yeah, I’m surprised more companies haven’t experimented with colored crystals. It’s not like they’re particularly hard to make.

>> No.17923896

>>17923894
This might be bullshit, but I heard Rolex scrapped something like 8 out of 10 Milgauss crystals because they didn't meet their quality standards to be put on watches. So they're apparently not too easy to make.
