I just got to Soul of my Soul and Spice Must Flow in the ELDO discovery set, they both have their own unique twist/flavor, but they both remind me of Hermann a little… and they’re both kind of great.
Looked up the notes and all three have rose absolute in them.
Is this what rose (frags) actually smell like?! Most florals I’m pretty opposed to, but these are kind of gorgeous

After buying almost 30 samples and smelling probably over 100 fragrances at Sephora, Nordstrom, Le Labo, Byredo, Diptyque, and ZGO, I’ve finally decided what my first full bottle is going to be: Andrea Maack Craft. Icy aldehydes and incense with a warm woody heart. It’s far from the most acclaimed fragrance, but it fits my style perfectly and has been the most enjoyable for me to smell on myself throughout the day. Plus, it really lasts all day. Bonus points for the fact that it was originally created to be part of an art installation instead of as a wearable fragrance.

If I don't want to piss off the Japs what are some light frags I can wear around March-April time in Tokyo?

Lalique Pour Homme isn't similar to Azzaro or Drakkar Noir. it's more of a creamy, powdery affair rather than a typical aromatic fougere. I think it comes off as more high class and formal, more like NYI or Heritage rather than the shaving soap fun of Drakkar Noir. probably a bit less dated too just because the DNA was never as omnipresent
I like the Lalique quite a bit more than either of those two, even though I also have a bottle of DN

I wanted to sample Intense Red Tobacco so I bought Mancera's sample kit and threw in Tonka Cola, Instant Crush and Intense Cedrat
All I have to say is fuck the Intense Red Tobacco, Instant Crush smells amazing

Eau de beaux is ok. It’s marketed for men so insecure men can also wear sweet and spicy vanilla frags similar to the superior Guerlain shalimar. This lavendar frag by Loccitane is also nice. However, Caron pour un homme is superior.

The woody and vanilla are very similar in the two. Shalimar is embellished with other accords, eau de baux is incomplete in comparison. Both come off unisex by todays standards.

Im a bit of a noselet but personally I love it, enough I bought a bottle on Black Friday. It’s a bit linear, but I like it for this frag because the spearmint is the top note and I personally wouldn’t want to lose it.
I don’t catch the floral notes so much, and I think the “burnt oil” blends with the other notes enough that I don’t really distinguish it by itself, but imo it works well.
Def worth sample, ymmv on whether worth a full bottle.

It doesn’t retain much from Caron pour homme original. It has pretty good performance for a freshy. I also have Guerlain homme edt. Guerlain homme is more mature than cph sport which is quite youthful. Even though it is youthful it has a classic feel to it. Almost like a modern day barber scent. I prefer its other flanker Caron pour un homme leau. This one retains a lot from the cph original but modernizes it. They use to sell both of these flankers for cheap. A bought a few backups for under $30

I use my 4711 to mix with unscented lotion, as aftershave, as cologne after a shower or whenever I feel like it around the house. I've used it to disinfect my razor blade, or to drizzle in the toilet, sink, and shower after cleaning them so it smells nice. I had some in a spray bottle as hand sanitizer and sometimes I put a splash on my armpits, I figure the alcohol kills any odor producing bacteria for some time.A big bottle is like $27.

Elixir is super projection. One spray is enough for all day. I tried two, and it was definitely too much. On the plus side, your bottle or decant will last forever. I like it a lot more on skin than on paper.

They are very similar but different enough. I like the scents you mentioned and the ones I mentioned have a similar profile to those you mentioned and were ones I liked as well. Some are pretty cheap so it might be worth trying anyway. If you like platinum egoiste though you might like fougeres and I think you might like Azzaro pour Homme as well as Paco Rabanne pour homme. I might also recommend sampling New York Intense.

This makes me view gender as more of a marketing tool for perfume houses rather than an inherent quality of any fragrance.
The most important question to ask is whether it is something you can wear proudly without being self conscious about whether it’s too feminine.

Does anyone else actually like the new Dior Homme rather than the old Violet heavy one? They are both good but I love the new one. I feel like this is a hugely unpopular opinion... But I don't think it's fair. People hated on it because it was different but that doesn't make it bad at all.

Eau Sauvage parfum (2017) has unreal longevity. Nearly 48hrs and two showers later and its still a skin scent on the top of my forearm where I sprayed it. I don't need to bury my nose either, I can recognise it an inch away. I much prefer the EDT, which unfortunately is gone in 2hrs on my skin.
