Okay so serious question since I’ve never really had expensive boots, how can I properly try on boots, specifically pic rel, at home? I’ve seen some tricker’s boots that I’m interested in but if I try them on then won’t they instantly crease within a a couple of minutes and wouldn’t this mean that I couldn’t return them if they did not fit?

Pic related, thoughts?

In my experience they shouldn't crease from a couple of steps at home, its hard to actually tell if they fit by just a couple of steps though. I've had boots fit me nicely at home, but once i took them outside they felt very different. Might be easier to do it in the store if near you.

Nowhere near me unfortunately. I could order both sizes but I am very hesitant about how much creasing they’d accept in a return, there will always be slight creasing after wearing them for a couple of minutes desu. The problem is that when I previously tried boots (docs lol) the pain was so unbearable after using them for a walk that it never used them again and it completely turned me off the idea of boots but I really do want to get a lot of boots. They also stitch both stitch lines through the outsole for some strange reason. Which makes zero sense except for laziness. Now you have to cut and restitch both every time you want a resole.

Viberg as comparison stitch just one through the outsole and the other one goes only through the midsole. Which means one stitch will always remain intact whenever you need to resole(until you have replace the midsole too). This seems like the entire reason for why you would even want two lines of stitching so I have no idea why the American PNW brands are doing it like that.

Nta. The uniform is kinda comforting. You don't have to think at all about what you're gonna wear and you know you're gonna look respectable. (To anyone who doesn't hate on the military).
It's the same thing with the formal and business "capsule" wardrobes. You learn how you look in something like a suit or uniform because you've been wearing them for years. That can be a source a confidence, the assurance that you don't look wrong.

It balances your weight throughout your whole foot instead of just your heel and ball of foot, your weight is also on your arch, and it alleviates fatigue once the boots are broken in.
People say that after work they rushed to take off their boots cause they feet hurt, and when wearing these they feel like slippers and don't want to take off their boots at all.
The purpose of them for work which was originally logging, then wildland fire fighting was for walking up sides of mountains, the arch makes it so you can comfortably walk up a high gradient without having to flex your ankle as much, and on the way down you can dig your heel into the dirt.

Thanks for posting - for context, the glove leather slipliner is cemented on tope of the poron insole, mostly for looks and tactile feel.

I'm not sure if I totally follow the comment that "the glue is coming up" but it looks like the edges of that liner are lifting up (likely due to moisture), in which case you would just need to reapply some contact cement to keep it in place. You can do this yourself, but a cobbler will likely be cheap and do a better job. Would also recommend giving more time between wears and/or using shoe trees if you're not already to help with moisture control!

No, only a small group of tiny fags do that shit. Whites really are just a classic leather boot design and a lot of people just want to wear an objectively well made, robust boot with a pair of jeans and button up shirt and not spend any energy trying to craft a super zesty, experimental outfit. They just want to wear classic pieces of clothing made with a higher than average build quality. Its only on this website where you find insufferable homos who spend way too much time on here forming insecure ideas about Whites being too "gay" or Whites having "tranny heels". If you actually went out and interacted with people in real life, there is absolutely nobody out there who looks at someone's pair of Whites and thinks, "wow, what a total tranny. This guy is a such a homo. Those boots have the most feminine looking heel I've ever seen".

take them to a cobbler and have the toe cut off and the soles removed. Then have the cobbler put a longer toe cap on them if they need to be longer or a shorter one if shorter is needed. Then have him put New soles on them to match the new size work.
It will cost you but you will have boots that fit.

I don't have any, I want one but my current shoe collection limits me.

I already have a dark suede PTB.
I already have a snuff suede Indy.
So what kind of suede chukka can I buy? Loden suede? I'm not sold.
Anyway if I was building my collection from scratch I would probably get a dark and light suede chukka for winter, same in loafers for summer, and just wear an occasional oxford if needed.

Asking a sneaker question here because I think i'll get better answers:
If I'm wearing suede sneakers (new balance asics etc) in a rainy area (pnw) should I:
Spray them with a long lasting waterproof spray and call it good?
Spray them with a short lasting waterproof spray and clean them constantly?
Don't spray them at all and clean them occasionally?
Also what kind of suede brush won't fuck up sneakers or what should my cleaning routine look like?

I'm going to order a pair of suede chukkas from TLB while they have the black friday sale on

BUT - storm welt?
I know suede is not really storm welt material but I think it looks cool and TLB does really tight storm welts
Also their normal welts are super tight which is good for dress oxfords but basically makes them invisible. I kinda wanna see the welt a bit. And it's not like it's a huge shelf.

I avoid wearing them in rainy weather

I use a normal horsehair brush before every wear. I keep a small saphir brush next to my shoe rack just for dusting, I don't apply any creams etc with it so it's not fucked up.
I have a crepe and brass brush for suede but I have rarely (if ever) used them. Maybe good if you get them really dirty or if you wash them (there's suede soap).

Maybe that's their solution to that. Carmina also has a "flex goodyear welt" option. I never select it.

I think I read that Meermin's inflexible problem is mainly on leather soles, gotta be some problem with stiff as fuck leather there.

i think that's more to do with the c*lastic they use in their heels, everyone complains about the heel counter area when breaking in meermins

But he did not remove the counter from the Rhodes boot and actually attempt to tear it. Just trust him bros, it is completely different and a much superior "blue filler counter material" even though it looks exactly the same as in the Portland Leather boot.
