What's your favorite watch that has a non-lever escapement?

I’ve been interested in wristwatches for about 10 years now. Are you really telling me that in all that time, there has come out just one (1) traditionally sized men’s watch from a major brand, that’s also affordable? The PRX is selling like crazy, what’s it gonna take for watch manufacturers to understand that people like small case sizes now? Like ffs.

I like the marlon Brando rolex look because I wanna look like a fat slob. Is there any decent cheap options that look like this or should I just get a hundred dollar Vostok to fuck around with till I get bored of it

Storytime: my uncle had a indiglo timex ironman when I was a small child, and it was instantly the coolest watch I had ever seen. I finally got one of my own when I was about twelve-ish or so. I went through a succession of basic ironmans all through high school and college.

Then I learned about the legend of the square g-shock on /k/ and wanted one bad. My sainted wife gifted me a GWM5610-1 a few years ago and it was everything I hoped it would be. The biggest problem with it is that I lost all interest in wearing any of my other watches, or in saving up for a nice watch. The square G just werked.

And then just a couple weeks ago I somehow lost the thing, like a fuckin' idiot. I got tired of glancing fruitlessly at my naked wrist where my watch was supposed to be, bit the bullet and bought a cheap beater to fill in the gap until I find the G or buy another one.

Went with the ironman endure 30 shock, or whatever they're calling it now. The nostalgic feels are real and honestly it's a legitimately good cheap sport watch. I still want my 5610 back, but for the fifty-ish dollar price I wouldn't have anything else. Funny how such a cheap, simple thing can be such a delight.

Right now, if I had both in front of me, I'd probably wear the ironman as a daily beater, and try to keep the G clean. Maybe even put it on a nato strap or something. I realize the idea of a "clean" or "nice" sport watch is kinda silly, but that's my gut reaction.

I find my Timex much more comfy and ergonomic than my gshocks, and with a much better strap (casio straps are utter shit).

Lacks being solar, but that adds to the display size and to durability.

No, but depending on your wrist size, it might be a little too large to be a dress watch. A dress watch is supposed to be discreet and, if you have a small wrist, a 39mm watch that's all dial will look like a foolish dinner plate.

In terms of complications, the old rule about dress watches needing to be time-only are out of date by at least 50 years.

I have a Datejust that I bought in 2020 and it has been running more or less constantly since then. I have not experienced any issues. It gains about a second per week, which is well within spec.

When I read about the issues, I wanted to see if mine suffered from it. I checked the amplitude on a timegrapher, and its accuracy across the length of the power reserve. It had no problems with either.

The problem seems to crop up within a year of ownership.
My understanding is that they seemed to be confined to the earlier releases.

The Omega is a good size and a nicely finished, luxurious watch, but it's also way too thick. The thing that makes the BP as elegant as it is is the thinness. The Tudor is nice and thin.
