they aren't using the machines in any production boots.
the process they use for making the boots they actually sell is on their youtube channel, and all those boots are hand lasted.

even the podcast episode said they are still just experimenting and seeing what's possible and they've found that most of their leathers and their celastic toe shapers don't work with lasting machines.

Yes, they are Russell's. There isn't a lot of reviews online aside from one Iron Snail video, one reddit guy rambling about bad customer service, and a sprawling Stichdown interview with the new CEO. Other than that it is mostly just boomers talking about them, which is honestly probably a good sign.
I've been wearing them around the house for a few days and thus far really enjoying them. The actual double vamp moccasin construction is something new to me and I can actually feel a difference. Not sure they are worth the asking price ($715) but I appreciate the history behind it and honestly they are clearly done by hand, which is both good and bad. Regardless, they fill a good role in my collection, as I don't own anything above 6" nor do I have any moc toes at all.
Not sure why RA hasn't done Russell's, but to be fair they've gone through a huge overhaul recently. Maybe they don't want to pay up for a "review"

Bros I’m going to pull the trigger on a pair of White’s MP and need some sizing help please. I’m a E width in the GS Leo last (def on the snug side) and have worn a EE width in the Red Wing IR (comfy toes). So I’m probably just going to select the ‘EE’ width for the MP. Lasting is a process during the boot making process where the upper is stretched over a last, which is what gives the boot the shape

hand lasting is when you do this process by hand, a bootmaker uses a shoeing hammer to physically pull and stretch the uppers over the last and then securing it with nails

its obviously a problem when a company called nicks HANDMADE boots is machine lasting

handlasting has several advantages over machine lasted

because each nail is driven in individually you can see the effect of the pulling of the uppers and the bootmaker will adjust as needed whereas a machine would just pull and call it a day

Thus far they are really comfortable without any sort of usual hotspots I've had in my other breakins. The leather is really soft and supple. I'm going to take them on some trails this weekend so I'll be curious how that goes. Frankly I love the fact that these are similar to Earl Shaffer's AT boot. My goal for these is to wear them everywhere as much as possible. That seems to fit with Russell's general style. Even though they are super expensive, to me at least, I don't feel the need to baby them.

Though I will say I was a bit surprised that the box to mail it in was also the actual shoebox. The only extra thrown in was a sticker. The laces are also kinda disappointing, but whatever.

I really don't care if my shoes are made by machines or not

My Carminas are made by machines and the area where the upper meets the welt always looks sloppy
My TLBs are also made by machines and I have never spotted even the tiniest of flaws on them
My Bonafes are "handwelted" but I doubt the outsole stitching is done by hand, it's still extremely tight and flawless.

Funny you mention that as my combat boot collection is all over the place sizing wise as well. I usually just buy 'em at least half a size larger and use an insole, but a few of mine are indeed a full size larger and still feel tight. I know there are width considerations but my foot is as normal as it gets so I think every once in a while I get a narrow boot. Varusteleka was sending random width swiss boots for a while.

I love my jungle boots (69 dated, 3rd gen) with the nylon, so much so that I want to get a modern black pair to preserve my nam ones. I do have the German "jungle" boot but it just isn't as comfy.

i think the half lug is definitely the way to go. dainite's lack of felt comfort aside, it's just not going to be a "dressy" boot. better to get a sole with more grip. cinnamon is the classic choice, but it does lighten up considerably as you wear it. if you don't want that, dark brown would be a better choice.
