Cool watch you got there.

>> No.17890250

To answer the post about "overbuilt" watches from the end of the last thread, overbuilding is a classic hallmark of a bad engineer. Any moron can use way too much material and add overt bulk and weight and take excessive safety precautions in building a structure or tool or piece of equipment. All of the talent and art and genius of the field of engineering is to figure out exactly what the thing you're building needs to do and do that as efficiently as possible. The less material you can use without impacting the use case of the item is always going to be objectively better. If you can make a tool lighter and smaller but it still does its job every bit as well it's a no-fucking-brainer.

Imagine you're putting a wood deck on your house. Your deck just needs to comfortably hold maybe 6-10 drunk people, some chairs for those people, a grill, and maybe the occasional box of lawn tools or something. You can easily do that with some simple lumber beams sunk a few feet in the ground and some boards on top. There's no need to make it fucking bomb proof, so why pay for all the materials and labor and time and energy to pour a concrete slab foundation and do masonry with stone and rebar and steel support beams and all kinds of crazy excessive bullshit? It's a waste.

the Tresor 2685. You can find really nice ones for under 2k USD in solid gold. They're around 34-35mm, IIRC. They had the cal. 266, which are very traditionally designed movements and any watchmaker can service one.

Bumper movements are automatic. Someone else had the patent on a 360 degree rotating weight, so Omega made one that bounced back and forth instead.

That watch fits you perfectly.

Watches being too small is an overrated phenomenon. Unless you're wearing a tiny, sub-30mm watch, no one will ever even notice if your watch is too small.

On the other hand, of your watch is too big, everyone will notice and everyone will think it looks comical.

As always, you should wear a watch that is sized appropriately to your wrist, but too many guys delude themselves into thinking that they should be wearing a 42mm when they should be wearing a 38mm.
