Yep. But then again same goes for us, I had a co-worker who worked their asses off. First one to get there and last to leave, skips lunch or eats it at the office pounding away on their keyboard. He's got a good 20 years on me but 20 years is a not that long of a time. Retired in June, found out he has cancer 2 months later. He's doing chemo right now and I hope he's gonna be okay.

He worked his ass off so his wife of 2 years can get paid 15k/month for the rest(not to mention the 1.25 million dollar home they share as well as whatever lump sum he has) of her life from his retirement if something were to happen to him. That's just bullshit.

I wasn't much of a watch guy, like most(all except Applewatch) of the shit I own were gifts. The day I heard about the cancer I was walking back to the office after lunch, saw a Rolex boutique. Walked in and asked what they have, they showed me a few models I was thinking of getting a DJ since I think it just looks best with the suit I had on, a stainless jubilee/fluted Wimbledon, a black dial jubilee/fluted and the green one. Ended up with the green one. Now I want more, called back there and put my name in for a Pepsi Jubilee as well as a Root Beer. I probably won't have a chance in hell for the Pepsi but I might be able to land the Root Beer.

Life is short, stop sweating the small stuff. Stop hating on others, be it trying to out clout people or fucking politics, bring happiness to yourself.

Not only do they try to compete, but they SHOULD try to compete. Maybe not so much with the big boys like Rolex, but they try to make good models. It's actually really strange that they aren't more competitive than they are considering they own Miyota but every microbrand uses their Miyota movements better than they do. They really should branch out and use more varieties of their automatic movements to make stuff that stands out. For instance, they make the 8285 movement that is a full day daydate movement but literally the only watch I've ever seen on earth that uses it is made by Cadisen, a shitty chinesium company. Why didn't they put these in the Tsuyosa for affordable integrated bracelet automatic daydates? They make the 9122 automatic movement that has day and month subdials and 4 hertz beat rate, why on earth is Maen the only company making watches with it? People almost don't even know what these guys can make because they're not doing anything with it.

The dial material does something interesting with the light, it's not just sunburst. Not sure exactly what it is. I also find the red seconds hand to go nicely with the dial's deep blue. And the indices and other hands are chunky and blunt in a way that softens the look. Maybe it would be more interesting if the dial were lacquer, but I still think it's nice.

Quality is touch-and-go. Half their customers rave about their quality, half have problems.
The main issues with microbrands is always one of longevity. If you have a 30 year old Rolex, you can have it serviced by going to any Rolex AD; but these microbrands are often 1-man operations. When he retires and you need your watch serviced, you'll have to go to an independent watchmaker...but what happens if you need a new crown, dial or set of hands and the company doesn't exist anymore?

Why not just get the PRX, it has a far better movement. IIRC this one uses a Sellita SW200, which is 'assembled in Switzerland' but 75% of it is made in China. It's still a decent movement and better than the cheap Miyota(citizen) and NH34(seiko) movements. But the powermatic 80 is still a better movement based on power reserve and dependability alone.

Good choice. You don’t want to buy watches just to turn yourself into a meme. Yes, it’s funny that your collection is a bunch of jokes, but they’re also mediocre watches.

Better to invest and buy a good watch later.

It was mentioned in the previous thread that this 'conical' caseback helps with the perceived thickness of the watch. Can confirm, it breaks the case side and visually makes it thinner as well as hides the caseback 'into' the wrist. Picrel.

>Not only do they try to compete, but they SHOULD try to compete.

Dude LMAO, citizen won the game so hard the swiss cucks invented their own little cope bubble of HAUTE HOROLOGY only to save themselves from the Japanese menace. And citizen isn't invading that solely out of mercy.

Citizen doesn't compete with Rolex and Omega because Rolex an Omega FUCKING RAN, It's not like Citizen failed to make a mechanical movement, it's that Rolex gave up on making a quartz movement only because of how fucking hard they'd lose to Citizen.

Here's a fucking reality check, the quartz watches are JUST BETTER, they are more accurate by several orders of magnitude, weight 3 times less, have 10 years of power reserve and no maintenance ever. And Citizen absolutely OWNS the quartz game (own the mechanical game with Miyota too btw).

Citizen
>invented the solar watch
>the first titanium watch
>1mm thin watch
>1second a year watch
>263khz watch (yes they own bulova)
>made some new bizzarro movement for the new Accutron too (nobody even knows how it works)

Rolex and Omega are playing the game in the Citizen Casino. Citizen own half of the "Swiss" brands as well and sells then the Miyota movements to use in the """Swiss""" watches.

If you think that Citizen aren't trying to make a louder name for themselves, that's only because they let the Swiss do that for them, using the Miyota movements.

Citizen has the technology and capacity to destroy the watch market at a snap of their fingers but chose not to.

Had it for a little over a year now. I like it a lot. It’s extremely comfortable because it’s so thin. The five day power reserve also makes it really convenient.
It’s pretty accurate, gains about 0.25 seconds per day, which I can live with. The lume is excellent, better than I expected given the small indices, but it glows brightly all night.

I did not like the stock sailcloth strap. It’s stiff and uncomfortable, so I put it on an old style Tropic strap, as it would have been in the 1960s.
