How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

Whilst Guidis are relatively high quality compared to other fashion things, most of which are abhorrent ABS plastic heel garbage, they are extremely expensive. You can often get them for around 30-50% off MSRP by Sale Sniping. Keep in mind the Industry Wholesale Pricing for stores are often 1/3-1/2 of the MSRP of the boot, whilst the retail price is agreed upon by the manufacturer for the wider public.

Stock Zippered Guidi boots, especially backzips are prone to breaking open due to pressure blowouts. You often have to modify them with Raccagni zippers, and an internal/external laced ‘brace’ system to prevent any sort of future damage.

Now on my third post about these whites perry boots I got a couple months ago. Despite my efforts, they have not broken in, it's been months and I still cannot walk more than half a mile without developing a blister on my heel, I've tried everything, I put these sticky heel pad things in them, I rubbed leather conditioner all over them and squished and massaged them, I tried wearing three layers of wool socks, it's not working. I don't even feel any heel lift really, but they just rape the ever loving shit out my heels anyway. Is it possible I got a defective boot or something? Way past the point of returning or exchanging them, I guess I can sell them on ebay for some petty change, sucks, I wanted to wear them.

Not interested in the shoe trees yes/no debate, but if there's a boot that objetively benefits from shoe trees is the Iron Ranger. The cap toe is hard and stiff while the vamp is soft and supple. The facins also add rigidity to the shaft. As a result you have a soft, flexible area between two stiffer ones, which is a recipe for massive creases and the toebox curling up which will the dreaded clown toe look. Shoe tress won't prevent this 100% but will minimize it a lot.

is waterproofing suede necessary? The store clerks usually recommend waterproofing any kind of shoe you purchase, obviously because they just want to sell you another spray. Never did that, and my leather shoes are fine. Looking online I found nothing on the subject, the search results only regurgitate that you NEED to impregnate suede, and it always sounds like the procedure has a potential to fuck your shoe up more than the potential water damage. How did people do it back in the day before waterproofing spray existed? btw, owned a pair of cheap suede chukkas for 3 years, never waterproofed, and they were also fine. now I'm thinking about a more expensive pair, and the waterproofing popped into my mind again

They are just skilled machine operators, those people don't have the full pledge skillsets of an actual shoemaker.
All they have to do is find willing people and train them to a certain standard. There is nothing that mystical about factory shoemaking.
All that skilled New England workers are old as fuck and will retire soon. The youths are more interested in other service industry. Hell, even flipping burgers or pushing espresso maker's buttons probably pay the same as working shoes machines, yet have less stress and learning curve.
