I don't know about Allen Edmonds but I got RWs 875 and so far I'm quite happy with them. I don't really do strenous manual labor (other than picking heavy boxes off the ground and carrying them occasionally) but they're pretty good for walking and standing on hard surfaces. I don't know how the soles would perform on dirt, grass, mud, etc. but I guess not so well.
None of my RWs have given me blisters during the break in period, make sure to wear proper socks with heritage boots.

So I got some blundstones last year in a size 45 (I usually wear a 45-46) and they fit fine but I don't have enough space in them to pop multiple insoles to make them comfortable.

I replaced the regular insoles that are awful with ones made with gel, but they're still not comfortable enough to be the main boot to travel with for example. Tried and suffered.

I'm thinking the 2240 model which seems like it has a bigger sole than the one I have and size up to allow the use of two insoles.

Insulation doesn't have to come from the liner either. The thickness and material of the sole and heel make a big difference, as well as the upper. 3mm leather will insulate a lot better than 1mm leather for example.
