for a comparison, red wing cross section

notice thursday use multiple different synthetic layers, including poron to give you out of the box comfort but the moment the poron collapses from wear you'll have no cushioning whatsoever

compare that to the solid single layer of leather plus cork underneath it. that won't break down like the synthetic stuff would but also provide a lot of solid support underfoot as cushioning only serves to splat your foot

look heres the thing: trumans are great boots, very well constructed, built like tanks, awesome leather, will last forever. That being said, they are VERY chunky, big boots. look at pics online of ppl wearing them before you buy them. they are a big clunky heavy boot especially now with the commando sole they use. Its not necessarily a bad thing if that is your aesthetic, but I dont find them to be very versatile. theyre like a rugged motorcycle boot you wear with t shirt and denim. you cant really dress them up though or wear them with a button down imo, they look ridiculous.

the cobblers will literally tear apart the shoes, rebuild them and talk through the entire process while showing it all.

Depends on the terrain, elevation, weather etc. 10k through the forest with lots of elevation gain is about twice as long of a hike as 10k on flat concrete or a well maintained flat dirt trail. 3 hours of tough hiking in a day is more than 99% of Amerifats or leafs will ever do so I'm not sure the need to start a pissing match. I am physically capable of multi-day through hikes, but I don't enjoy that sort of thing so how is it relevant?

The entire boot was dyed black with the aniline dye, and the heel faded to show its true colors below. Your idea of a dark brown boot is just from very long periods of care and wear. As for those boots, do you plan on wearing them for 10 years or more? Or is it just a fad? That’s what will make a proper pair of very dark, almost black boots.

same guy is selling a brand new col8 hatch Carmina shell boot for $575
brand new unworn trees included, my size

but the listing is a year old, not marked as sold, probably forgot
Why was he selling a bunch of brand new boots

I have never seen this makeup before, I thought Carmina (and all shoemakers really) avoid doing plain toe shell cordovan shoes because the shell stretches too much at the toe.
But it looks good.

no one fakes carminas out there
if you look closely the left boot, it has a sligthly deeper than superficial scratch at the toe, not just a bump, but actually the grain being a little bit torn
brushing and maybe spot conditioning will make it go away 95%
but there are motherfuckers out there that think they broke their new toy and can't live with it now that the boot is forever ruined
a scratch in such a visible area like the toe will forever haunt them
people, that honestly buy these boots beyond their means, want to keep them as pristine as possible and that's also the same type that would feel the need to recoup some of their losses by selling them on

i wont shit on them for this but they auto flag ship forwarding addresses. they claim they have a problem with people sending stuff to them then saying they dont get them. I dont see how that's their problem because once ups says its delivered the transaction is done and it's no longer their problem

what I do have a problem with is not responding to the email. the only way to resolve the issue is to call them but if theres something funky going on I'd just tell them the same info i had entered when buying. it adds no security and serves only to frustrate real paying customers. this is the first company to hassle me over this address after years of use

anyways they're not hurting for sales so they wont care about the one order but I just dont like how the whole thing played out and I dont feel like ordering from them again

Hey guys, how typical is it for dye to come out in the conditioner you're using (Bickmore 4)? Granted I'm fairly new to not dressing like a complete slob but I have owned boots before and this hasn't happened. I went: wipe down with saddle soap > brush > first coat of conditioner > let dry for ten and brush > overnight conditioner > might brush it, but should I just wipe it away? Overboard?

It's Meermin so I know it's leather, maybe not the highest quality leather, but definitely leather.

Plain toe hatch shell with only two large panels to minimize shell color variations.

I might do this setup but from Enzo Bonafe and go with armagnac hatch shell like >>17870455
Without a captoe there won't be any color variation.

Also I avoid plain toe shoes normally (except suede) because creases look weird with no captoe, but plain toe on shell won't have that problem.

>>17872884
saddle soap is for when boots are really dirty or to remove stubborn stains, so unless you do manual labor on them probably will never need it. It also strips the leather of a lot of its natural pils so heavily conditioning afterwards might be needed. Guess it can also affect the pigment, but not 100% sure about that.
Most conditioners will darken the leather to some degree, it should go back to the original with use.
