I spent the last three weeks looking for some winter outerwear. I looked at at least two hundred coats, dozens of jackets and it's all trash or too expensive. I just can't style these shoes, balance them out with a jacket. They're too dominant. Anyone have a suggestion for something wintery which doesn't cost more than a grand?

I spent last winter wearing a barbour jacket. It's too cold here for me to be wearing that in December or January.

Filson is still good, but it’s not as good as it used to be and it’s now absurdly overpriced. They ask for double or triple what the same garment would be asked for from comparable companies. They are selling basic cotton hoodies for $200 and basic wool sweaters for nearly $500. That’s insane from an outdoor/workwear brand.

wouldn't recommend this item from them, apparently it is incredibly thin

>> No.17859831

>>17859824
i've been in store, they're only slightly thinner than the mackinaw wool, intended for fall spring instead of the full weight for winter

but the thing is there really isn't another company that sells the same aesthetics and materials on the market that is commonly available

This will be ma 2nd winter without winter shoes. Last year I almost didn't go outside because I'd slip with the shoeas I have. I'd cycle in the snow though the days I had to go to the office and couldn't work online.

I can agree that aesthetically they’re better than most but there’s no one thing they sell which the same thing can’t be found elsewhere. In fact, the only really unique thing they sell is the waxed tin cloth stuff, but even that is a lot like any waxed canvas or duck.

there really isn't anything else on the market similar to the shrunken wool the mackinaw wool tho

That's why you look on Ebay for Filson USA Made from before they outsourced production.

Especially when you're in Europe you can find some amazing deals. Essentially new lined tin jacket for 150 bucks? Those cost like 700 now.
