17843595 No.17843595 [Reply] [Original]

"The Nomos timepiece in question presents itself as a visual aberration, exhibiting an unsightly and lackluster design replete with woefully thin lugs and a laconic, generic face that fails to stir any sense of awe or fascination. The overall fit and finish of this unfortunate horological specimen is a lamentable one, as it sits awkwardly and uncomfortably on the wrist, failing to deliver a satisfactory user experience. The subpar quality and performance of this insipid watch only serve to besmirch the reputation of its manufacturer.
While Nomos mechanical movements may be commendable, they are unable to compensate for the abysmal design. The abhorrent aesthetic of their timepieces betray a lack of ingenuity and a pervading lack of artistry. Nomos' designs could be described as grim, joyless and uninspired - a hideous marriage of utilitarianism and lackluster aesthetics. Ultimately, while their watches may function adequately, those seeking an exquisitely designed timepiece should look elsewhere." -edition

Why did they print
>10YEAR BATTERY
>WR 50M
on the dial you, the owner, look at to use it? Why is this a trend amongst watches now? I know my watch is water resistant. No, I won't be taking it to 50 meters its a dress/casual every day watch. I'm not taking it fucking diving to 150feet below the water where I'll invariably be using scuba gear.
Who fucking cares what the manufacturer calculates the battery to be? Am I going to be in year 7 thinking "I should get a battery next year just in case this one fails soon" NO. That watch would be improved greatly simply by removing those 2 lines.
>SAPPHIRE
We know that is a precious gem stone sometimes but for watches it just means the crystal is slightly better and costs more. But who the fuck cares? It still says
>MANUFACTURER OF KEYBOARDS
Above it. Just leave all that bullshit off. Etch it on the caseback if consumers like to be reminded of the feature list of the watch. So many watches I like and won't buy because they insist on printing bullshit on the dial for no benefit.

I wouldn't get one personally. The fact that it can't run solely on solar power without needing an occasional recharge is too big of a tradeoff in order to have that better display. The heart rate monitor is a bit gimmicky for me, but I can see how others would find it useful if they wanted that information while working out. You can always figure out your heart rate the old fashion way by putting your finger on your neck and feeling your pulse and counting how many beats there are in 10 second, and then multiplying that by 6 to figure out the BPM. Also the bigger size is a big drawback for me because G-shocks are already pretty chunky. That's just my opinion on them but I can see why others would like them

damn, yeah watched one that basically just said it's a good gshock with a bad fitness tracker slapped on. probably makes more sense just to get a cheap fitness watch type thing as a supplement instead of a replacement. doing heart rate "the old fashion way" is retarded and not remotely practical for actually maintaining a target heart rate zone while working out, but I agree that it's not worth dropping $300 on when a $50 fitbit would do the same thing but better

For the southern hemisphere, I'm pretty sure you line up 12 with the sun and set north in between the hour and and 12.
It's a bit silly, but it's not entirely useless if you're out hiking or whatever. It's better as a backup to an actual compass.

Many complaints actually.
The watch feels, sounds and looks like a 300$ watch even though it costs 750$
Compared to my presage sharp edged, it feels (and it is) a big downgrade, especially on the bracelet part.
Another complain is, it's a very thicc boy, combined with the small diameter, makes it look even fatter.
Why did I buy it then? Well the caliber is mid-tier (6R35A) and the dial just makes up for everything else.

SubBrah here. FWIW I only bought this when it was 10% of my salary which is my unofficial rule of thumb. I actually just got a new job as a lead engineer so I’ll be looking for another watch soon. Thinking either an old GMT master 1, or something left field like a Kurono.
