I wouldn't get one personally. The fact that it can't run solely on solar power without needing an occasional recharge is too big of a tradeoff in order to have that better display. The heart rate monitor is a bit gimmicky for me, but I can see how others would find it useful if they wanted that information while working out. You can always figure out your heart rate the old fashion way by putting your finger on your neck and feeling your pulse and counting how many beats there are in 10 second, and then multiplying that by 6 to figure out the BPM. Also the bigger size is a big drawback for me because G-shocks are already pretty chunky. That's just my opinion on them but I can see why others would like them

For the southern hemisphere, I'm pretty sure you line up 12 with the sun and set north in between the hour and and 12.

If you want the movement but not the design, Citizen has started putting them into less expensive versions with multiple dial configurations. Compared to my presage sharp edged, it feels (and it is) a big downgrade, especially on the bracelet part.
