Any luxury watches that are available on the second hand market for less than 1500 that aren't quartz crisis shitters?
Hard mode: needs to be actually available and not a "once in a while if you're lucky at an auction" piece.

I already own a vintage Omega Seamaster and a TAG Heuer 2000. Some older Cartier tanks are also available at that price point regularly, but they're usually completely beat up.

L*U*X*U*R*Y only pls, basically everything on the right of this guide is fine.

Wish you chose a watch as the OP pic, it was hard to find this thread in the catalog even though I know ArchieLuxury.
Anyway, is this watch a poor choice if I like the Longines skindiver? The price isn't even dramatically cheaper, I'm wondering if I'd regret getting or not getting the alpina, I think the dial color is much nicer but the longines has the feeling of being the OG (i'm pretty sure blancpain was the real OG though). What does /wt/ think, this or the longines legend diver?

How poor? As a poorfag you should first decide whether you want one watch for every occasion or multiple ones.

If you want one watch for every occasion then the Lunar pilot is a terrible choice because it's gigantic and will look off in some situations and in others it'll be plain uncomfortable.
If you want the Lunar Pilot as part of a collection of similar priced watches then you're obviously not a poorfag.
If you want it as your first more expensive piece in combination with much cheaper watches then it's a good choice.

Finally, if it's just a cope for a Moonwatch then it's a terrible, terrible idea altogether.

Vintage watches are great and I would much rather own a vintage sub than a brand new ceramic bezel with ROLEXROLEXROLEX on the rehaut. Same goes with many other models
Watches from the 50/60/70s were simply much prettier and balanced than the oversized blingy stuff that is made today

I agree sort of. Rolex should be in its own tier above luxury but below high end luxury. They shouldn’t be in the same tier as JLC or Blancpain or any brand that is making extremely high end complicated watches. And you could make a pretty good argument that Cartier should be on the same tier as Rolex. Rolex acts like releasing a titanium watch (which everyone else did 15 years ago) is changing the world. I don’t know if they’re out of touch or what.

CPCP is based, and the fact that it isn't talked about much speaks volumes about the kinds of people who are into high-end watches. Patek, AP, Lange, et al. are the purview of individuals like in OP's pic. They are late-career dentists and actuaries (or rappers, god forbid), with a lot of money but little in the way of taste. Beauty is invisible to them and of course it would be, what with a lifetime spent looking at numbers. Big number good, little number bad. Expensive watch good. Unlike them, however, the Cartier Privé owner is a man of taste and refinement. He's not a watch collector, who trawls the forums and rehashes tired debates on finishes or complications. His social life is far to busy for that, and it certainly wouldn't make for interesting conversation with the innumerably many beautiful women who are always seen in his company.

No because "10 year battery" essentially means "LED" because EL uses the most battery. Any solar watch that gets worn will last longer than 10 years even with EL. If you are allergic to light the best you can do with EL is 7 years something like the A168. This is just going by the spec sheet, in actual usage most EL watches will last over 10 years.

I won't sell the handwinds, they are dear to me. I also won't sell the solar quartz or the vintage quartz or the daily auto, i wear them and i like them too much. The other two autos, well, nobody will buy them because they're shitters, i've been asking around without any luck, tried the local equivalent of eBay but the watch market is small where i live, so yeah...

>I won't sell the handwinds, they are dear to me.
They're not worth much, and nobody would buy them anyway. One of the two autos that i'm selling was a mistake on my part and i regretted the purchase almost immediately. I'll probably hold on to it until i find a buyer or maybe i'll gift it to someone.
