17830414 No.17830414 [Reply] [Original]

Looking for recs on combat boots (lace-up, black leather or imitation leather, knee or shin length preferred) - brands, styling, where to buy, etc.

Also looking for recs on black turtleneck compression shirts. Military workout shirts, maybe?

Already have some grey-green Austrian Bundesheer Anzug military surp pants in pretty good condition, just a little baggy but I should be able to counteract that with a belt and putting the legs inside the boots. Will post pics of them below.

Also looking for advice in general on this outfit idea and concept. Bad or good direction?

I'm a sucker for African military aesthetics so here's a few sites I used.

These guys do reproductions from western allied countries across the 20th century, got some of their Rhodesian items and I'm pretty happy with them. The iconic olive shorts are far too baggy though, can't recommend them.
https://www.whatpriceglory.com/products/c203-rhodesian-and-cold-war/

Instead you can get some from this site. While not actually militaria, the colors they use make for great substitutes and give you lots of freedom in making cool combinations.
https://boerboelwear.com/product-category/kalahari-range/

And I haven't used this site yet, I'll try them next. Very simple stuff that can be mixed and matched well with anything from the previous two links.

And a black turtleneck compression shirt. Warm and close to the skin, plus I've heard compression shirts can accentuate gains and I've been hitting the gym recently.

>> No.17838016

>>17837219
Is this supposed to be for casual wear? It sounds really costumish. Generally it's best to stick to one military piece at a time to avoid "weirdo wearing an army costume at Safeway" territory. Also compression shirts look incredibly tryhard unless you're actually wearing them for sports. You'd be better off with a fitted tee or henley.
Unless this is all for a Halloween costume, in which case you should disregard the above and lean into it by accessorizing with a shoulder holster.

>> No.17838141

>>17838016
Are they actually tryhard? I've mostly just seen them at the gym. I'll definitely look into fitted tees or henleys, though.

And yeah, a good deal of this is actually going to be used in a costume. I wanted to (1) make it actually look decent and (2) design it with pieces that I could then wear/incorporate into daily outfits.

A shoulder holster isn't a bad idea, but I don't want to get unwanted attention from rent-a-cops at my college.
