Stop shilling your mediocre watches. You really have no or boring taste like that other anon said. No imagination. A true NPC. You can't even decide what your taste is so you buy two Speedys and two Semens. And all four are fucking boring. You don't even have papers for them.

I haven't been drunk in a long time. Getting half-drunk tonight. Just wanted to thank you all for being who you are.

Buy the watches you love, don't compromise or settle for second-best. If you can't afford it, save up and don't buy place-holders. Try on watches in person when you're happy and sad, or awake or tired, before pulling the trigger.

Finally, don't tell anyone. Your collection is your own, and only you must live with it. Buy what makes you happy, and fuck the rest.

That is all. I hope you all have good health, because that truly matters in the long run more than anything else in the world.

Thank you for being existant.

Does anyone have experience with steinhart watches? For their watches that are direct homages to rolexes, like their submariner clones for example, are they close enough clones that aftermarket bracelets and other case components made for a rolex will fit the steinhart?

I have 4 Speedies and 2 Semens. No need for papers since I won't ever sell them.

Agreed about 'no imagination'....they do all look alike, don't they? And yet...they are perfection.

Imagination is, to be blunt, a falsehood to encourage you to buy that which is instinctively abhorrent (a leftover of post-modernist visual art). The real 'win' is in discovering what is attractive to your eyes, and what you'd love to see on you wrist every day. Ignore the rest...

There are genuine concerns, but if serviced, a 3570.50 Speedy is as useful and aesthetically pleasing as any other 1861 Speedy that was used on the Space Shuttle or ISS.

As for the Semen chronograph...you do know it was the flagship model for Omega in 1994, and that it was the first chrono that was COSC certified while also being able to have the chronograph used AT DEPTH...that's why it's a glorious watch, alongside the aesthetic design decisions that left nothing to chance (like having the chrono-second pip line up with the centres of the subdials, or the proportions of dial and hour markers match that with the bezel and interior subdials). It's a brilliant design, happily explaining away the skele hands of the 'Bond' era Seamaster that so many deride. Combine that with a bulletproof Valjoux 7750, and you win. From a certain point of view...lol

The downside is that you have no proof the watch is authentic, the watch may have been stolen on the street, the watch cannot tell you where it was originally purchased. Up until that point, I think.

Rolex's strongest point was that they were just way better at marketing. Omega always made better toolwatches, Rolex just knew how to advertise to the right people.

Had Rolex's rivals done the same thing, Breitling would've shut out Rolex from appealing to pilots, Omega with divers and Zenith with racers.

That said, my key gripe with Omega resulting to Chinese factories is that that would've allowed them to keep prices the same despite inflation considering shifting manufacturing to China would've cut costs by a lot, but they wanna have their cake too, I guess.

Rolex appeals to people for being Rolex, muh luxury goods status symbol. They would buy it even if Rolex made trash watches. Other brands like this are RM and AP, both fucking horrible cringey meme watches that are only propped up by celebrity.

Now I won't say that Omega and friends aren't status symbols either, but they are bought and collected for horology and other reasons, also. While Rolex literally is not collected for that at all (otherwise they'd be wearing vintage Bond Submariners instead of a green watch).

Been needing a dress watch and I've been eyeing these ever since it got announced and I couldn't decide between white or green. White seems good since it complements my main watch having a black dial, the faded green aesthetic on the other hand reminds me of the clocks in the movie Dark City, which is a favorite of mine.

One other thing is that unlike other Asian microbrands, which have their watches made in either Hong Kong(Zelos, RZE, Boldr) or China(Phoibos), Vario actually had theirs made in the same factory as where Citizen watches are manufactured. I guess he must have some kind of pull with Citizen since his next project involves the use of their Eco-Drive tech.

Not quite there yet since 28,800 being Hi-beat was some sort of marketing gimmick that was started by Seiko, true high beat is supposedly 36,000bph. That said, what makes this more notable than Seiko's NH34A is the fact that it's a True GMT vs. NH34's, which is a caller GMT.

As for pricing, the two factors that put it at that price range is the movement being a Miyota 9000 series and the fact the watch is made in Japan. From what I've read on the CEO's notes about the movements was that his timegrapher was showing -/+ 4spd without regulation when he got them, although that can vary since I have a watch with a Miyota 9075 that's at -14spd.

I'm probably going to be settling for green once I get to sell the watches I currently have at the moment.

>But it sounds like it's probably a good buy, since your primary concern is the size of the bracelet.
Don't assume that. Nobody here knows anything about this model, not even the model # so that you could at least compare prices, nor about the condition of the movement, nor the condition of the bracelet. Vintage gold bracelets are like granny's vintage underwear; stretched to all shit. Have a look at rolex daydates from that period: the bracelets are stretched beyond all wearabilty so they're usually sold on replacement straps. I only speak in generalizations based off experience in having to forgo a few really good deals on integrated bracelet 70's stuff because the previous nipponese owner took out too many links 50yrs ago.

If you luck out finding it for less than $600 on eBay or off the Zelos Facebook group, look for the Zelos Mako Frost.

Probably the best looking homage to the Explorer II White and since it sports a Miyota 9075, it also tends to be <10 in terms of -/+spd. The one I sold was at +4spd, I regretted doing so ever since.

I bought the Malachite variant of it but it just didn't feel the same.

I thought salmon dials were going to be the next meme color like green was a few years ago after all those watches came out with it. I think Vacheron is trying to elevate it to a special, once in a while limited thing.
The hype hasn't really ramped up like with blue and the then green though.
I like all these vario colors. Hard choice IMO.

Or "quarter after." Then I'd always have to ask the follow up question "..... quarter after what??" It annoyed the shit out of me that people wouldn't just say the hour the first time I asked the time, I had to either pry it out of them or intuit from the position of the sun what the fucking time was even though I just asked someone the time.

Rolex is not my favorite brand, but I will answer Rolex because their watches have always been of high quality (albeit overpriced), they are family owned and therefore unlikely to decline in quality, and they make nice all-gold watches.

Does wearing an all-gold watch give you a stats bonus like equipping a gold bracelet in an RPG game?

Rolex isn't family owned. Patek and I believe AP are though. Rolex is better than family owned as it's technically a charity, not a for-profit business. The board of trustees keeps everything in check so you don't get a situation where some singular faggot ass scion inherits it all and fucks everything up in a few years like with AP's elimination of all lines cept the rokejoke and code:whogivesashit and of course the soitastic nigpanther watch or, more egregiously imo, patek's godawful 2023 lineup that looks like what boomers think younger wealthy types want but is really what "I'm too old even for a mid-life crisis" types want with all the weird colors and carbon fucking fibre and gravel dial patterns common to nameless chinkshit which looks bad on both.
