17807186 No.17807186 [Reply] [Original]

I have heard Canada Goose keeps you really really warm but the only one that looks cool is pic related, the westmount parka. but I’m not sure about the size since I am a shorty but most people who recommend it say get a size smaller or just get the usual size so it is hard to decide to get it or not plus the weather doesn’t get super duper cold but it looks nice to have regardless because I do not like feeling cold and the only jacket I have that compares is a Michael Kors parka
Is Canada goose really worth the 1k price tag? Or should I just wait out and think about it more until I am sure I want to get it? Especially since fall and winter are soon here but where I live never snows unless it gets really cold

Keep in mind tho this is the kind of warm where you go into 10-30f with just a tshirt and a jacket on and dont do any strenuous activity. I used to walk to work in mine and on plenty of days i was unzipping it and zipping it the whole way to air out the sweat. same with the hand pockets.

Canada goose is good but they're very warm and bulky. Also, their quality isn't as good as it used to be. Pyrenex is cheaper and has the quality of pre-fashion CG. Woolrich is only good for their parkas imo but they do it very well and they're lighter/easier to wear in the city than CG. Neither of these brands have the stigma of CG, Moncler etc.

Why does it have that reputation or why do bugmen like it? It has that reputation because there are in fact bugmen who will spend a shitton on it (not so much nowadays, but you can still find techwear bugmen on reddit). I can't say exactly why bugmen like it, but bugmen generally buy products because they think it will give them an identity, the product is suitably recognizable to other bugmen, they think looking for and purchasing said product constitutes an actual hobby, etc. Acronym is part of techwear and thus gives bugmen the false sense of identity that comes with techwear (people who wear it are practical yet stylish, functional but unafraid to be unique, etc.), the pieces are fairly recognizable but only if you've seen them before, and finding particular pieces can be difficult so it feels like an actual hobby. These are some possible reasons bugmen may bugman about acronym; before anyone starts seething, note that I'm not saying everyone who likes acronym is a bugman.
