I got a sampler of Caron fragrances and have been wearing them the last week or so. Here is a person with a bad sense of smell thinks of them:
>pour un home de Caron
My favorite one, nice and simple. I love lavender and I love vanilla
>yuzu man
My second favorite one sublet, fresh, sweet, and a little citrusy. This one was my gf’s favorite too. Smell doesn’t last too long if you spray it on your skin though, had better performance spraying on my clothes.
>pour un homme de Caron le soir
I like this one a lot too but not as good as the original. If you really like that oak smell and lavender this one is for you
>le 3rd homme de Caron
I don’t like it at the start but then it drys up and has a really nice powdery smell kind of gives me a headache upon initial application though
>yatagan
Grandpa smell reminds me of visiting my grandma in the sad old folks home she had to live in at the end of her life.

I don't know if you call it a malfunction or a disease or a disorder or what. The point I was trying to illustrate was she really likes coffee but can't have it anymore, hence the coffee fragrance.

I thought it was particularly good. Opens with a black coffee burst that after a few minutes feels like it has the bergamot tartness from bleu de chanel on top, and a sandalwood base underneath. As it dries down the tartness goes away entirely and the coffee becomes softer and sweeter. I think this and Dark are the two easiest frags from Akro to wear, and I'll add Smoke to the list because the opening on Smoke is Harsh, real Harsh, but the drydown is much much warmer and sweeter like a tonka bean Tabacco Vanille (minus the vanilla). The Akro lineup is more conceptual than pragmatic thought (Haze and Night would be particularly hard to wear), cuz Ink is a crisper/more piercing version of Encre Noir, and Malt is just meh/boring (i think the only one that fails to evoke the target scent).

it makes me optimistic that the worst low hanging fruit quality in products can be indicated by how commercially it is marketed and how famous of a face is marketing it. Copped a 50ml bottle of Ghost in the Shell after loving it in their sample pack.

Opens with a powdery citrus combo of Yuzu and Jasmine, dries down into a very pleasant soapy/metallic/milky and slightly floral musk. Very much a skin scent.

It’s a great juxtaposition. And I suppose fits the creative direction and influence of Ghost in the Shell.

It’s both human (natural notes, milk accord) and inhuman (sharp citrus synthetics, cold metallic).

There are moments where I’m not sure I even like it, but the weirdness smoothes out to something very nostalgic and comforting.

It’s hard to explain. Definitely sample and don’t blind buy. I’ve heard polarising things with skin chemistry on this one.

>Kenzo EDP was quite good I think I'll get tired of it if I get a full bottle
>CAHSEE is nice but that sweet lemon is something I'll get tired of fast
Fuck man why can't I find a frag that I really love? Everything ends up boring me a few weeks in. I want something that I constantly go "man this smells good" whenever I catch a whiff of it. I remember some frags used to make me feel like this but I don't remember which ones.

Sauvage edt is the safest bet, especially if no one around you wears perfumes. Bleu de chanel if youre an older guy. ysl if youre younger. The other two would come down to personal taste. I wouldnt consider elixir to be in the same category as the rest, could be off putting for someone who's just starting and or isnt used to smelling heavy middle eastern types of perfumes. I would pick sauvage edt.
