Slick it back my man. Your shit is a bit longer than mine here.

you're in the awkward phase, where it's too long to style and too short to put in a bun or behind your ears
bear with it, and maybe wear a hat like a cap or something for a while until you've pushed through it. my go-to, at least at home, is a hairband

best thing to do is just push it straight back until it gets long enough to do other stuff with it. even if you don't like the slick back style generally, it's the best thing to do with it during the awkward stage, especially if you have thick hair.

i have your exact hair type but i am literally terrified to go to the hair salon and ask for layering. the idea of having to sit for like an hour talking to female hairdresser surrounded by female clients makes me shiver. advice?

Also I don't have layers. That's just a grown out buzzcut. Once it's long enough I'll get it cut like late 80s Kurt Russell.

a lot of what goes into nice looking hair has to do with the kind of products you're using and especially HOW you're using them (aside from genetics obv). the cheapskate conditioner is not going to cut it. research your hair type and treat it accordingly. thin hair needs very different products and methods than thick or curly hair. in my experience it's very common that most guys just have no idea about stuff like that and just go for whatever product looks promising.

I kind of hair like the OP pic and I like it that way. I like having a bit of a stubble long shaggy hair, feels very relaxed and low maintenance. Do you have any other inspo pics for this?
