B-but anons, it's called safety razor for a reason. The shaving cream needs to be applied and of a consistency so you can run your razor on your skin smoothly, easily. No pressure, you just go over your skin, let the blade do the work. You basically have to do nothing. You're probably overthinking it, or your are in a hurry to get to work. You can do that when you get the hang of it. Start after work, on the weekend. Also, the beard needs to be trimmed short. These razors are for shaving stubble, not a beard.

>> No.17804133

Been using a Philips electric razor for years now. I bought a pretty high-end model and I find that I can get a better shave in much shorter time compared to a standard razor. Not as smooth as going against the grain with a traditional razor but smoother than going with the grain with a classic razor and a lot faster process.

Here's some tricks to help you shave with a safey razor without getting cuts
>buy a decent razor (don't get the cheap chinese ones for like 10 bucks)
>make sure your face is wet and warm
>make sure you replace your blade regularly
>make sure your soap or paste isn't too wet or too dry
>don't put too much pressure when shaving
>always have your blade perpendicular to your face(
Don't skip any of these steps otherwise you'll cut yourself

I got enough tism in me that I cut myself with safety razors and every other shaver I have ever used.

electric razors are the worst, when they bite they sting for days
cartridge cuts and it sucks, but its manageable
safety can cut anywhere but you dont feel shit
shavettes/straight razors can easily shave the tip of skin (hair pushes skin up a bit, you shave flat, and small bits of skin are gone with it)

I have hair that comes out near directly under my lip and near directly above, to actually deal with that shit, I need to either tweezer it out, or I need get so close that i'm going to cut myself almost regardless of what I do. I also have a butt chin to some degree and getting anything in there to make it smooth is going to cut a bit.

1-5 feathers are the worst for durability, others are better but also have worse shaves, see derby, the happy medium would probably be persona labs where you get 2-5 shaves depending on hair thickness, but generally 3 and replace.

Do not use the same blade more than a dozen times. This sounds like a nobrainer, but I'm sure some niggardly fucks out there will try to make their blades last longer. One thing I've noticed, having used a number of different brands, is that Feather blades don't last very long. The first couple of shaves are very smooth, but after that it gets rough. By contrast, my Mühle blades last about twice as long before needing to be changed.

First thing my father taught me about knives: wield the blade away from the body, and the first thing my mother taught me about knives: they have to be sharp, or they yield poor results. I can't wait for my Timor 1354 100mm to arrive. I am 36 and I felt I need a new routine in my life so I decided I will start shaving regularly instead of having a short beard and using only a machine. I started about a month ago with disposable cartrige razors, okay but I felt this can be much more enjoyable experience with some actual decent skill developed along side, so I ended up ordering a lower tier safety razor to try it out and it completely turned me around when it comes to shaving: I am looking forward to it and pride myself in having a nice clean shave. Also having to only buy cheap old school blades, the feeling of doing something that proved itself in time among other men, the tools it requires, the preparation, focus, skill etc, just gives so much satisfaction. I am extremely happy I decided to go with safety razors. Highly recommend!
