>what is /funktional motocore/?
/funktional motocore/ is about riding a bike/trike/scooter and being cool about it.

/funktional/ means there's an element of purpose in the fits: something suggests a 'why' behind the ride, whether it's going to the store, carrying out a population survey of coastal amphibian species, or surviving the great drought.

/motocore/ means it's a step away from the 'standard' sources of motorcycle inspo: 50s American biker culture and 60s British rockers, which have built up their own set vocabulary of fashion that extends to the motorcycle itself as a statement piece.
Instead, /motocore/ cribs inspiration from areas like contemporary South/SE Asia, or anywhere where the motorcycle (invariably a cheap, small one) is still an agile, cheap mode of transport used for daily tasks -- just as it was in the UK when biker culture was being codified.
Not that this is more 'authentic' than the 'standard' sources; we're just tapping into a fresher vein to create a newer, less played-out vocabulary of fashion where smaller, cheaper motorcycles become statement pieces.

Trade the Pvs-7 for a Pvs-14. Lack of depth perception with pvs 7 will make nighttime driving impossible. With pvs-14, you can at least have somewhat binocular vision making night driving somewhat possible. With practice.

People here care too much about safety. Brother, whatever you're wearing when in a motorcycle, if you crash above 20mph you'll most probably die ot be in very bad condition, whatever "protective gear" you're wearing. You'll just go flying, cars are the only "safer" option.

You're wrong - with proper gear, plenty of folks crash at 60, even 100mph and come away with minimal injuries. It's by no means guaranteed, and chance will always be a large factor, but you can swing it far in your favor with right gear. Look up the Hurt Report AND MotoGP safety stuff.

do you guys think /rog/ or helmut lang threads would've survived back in the day if anytime someone posted any iteration of ricks or helmuts "bulletproof" vests we'd have to have endless discussions about gun safety and kevlar with people who don't give a shit about fashion?

i understand it's not 2014 anymore and everyone who used to watch and discuss live runways fucked off a long time ago. but man is it discouraging to see people shoot down any single attempt at fashion creativity with concerns about "functionality" as if that was fashion's very first concern.

Your fashion will collide with reality at some point - that's where it gets truly interesting. The aesthetic, informed by real world use, it what draws true beauty out of things as opposed to being some neatly boxed in fantasy.

yeah but you have to admit there really isn't room for fashion in riding gear since they are in essence seat-belts. Might as well just squid out in some noragi or even gimpgear kek w/ a helmet.

Kadoya is probably the only one I know that is both gear and effay to some extent. If any other anon knows some brands with interesting designs, nows the time.

>> No.17803529

>>17803523
This is a total misconception though - there is absolutely room for fashion in riding gear, it's just an area of massively untapped and largely unexplored potential. There's no reason a noragi couldn't be practical, with the right layers beneath it and accommodations made to secure it as needed. I think the market for truly /fa/, but still practical moto gear that isn't just a 1960s retro circle jerk is just so small nobody is investing there.

hear hear. I was disappointed with how little of a market there is when I was shopping for my gear. The gear companies image of effay is a retro brown leather jacket with racing numbers. I'm willing to spend alot but there really is no design experimentation what so ever.

>> No.17803559

Yeah there's very little creative or fresh anywhere in the market. It's kind of shit to put together a good, practical moto look that isn't wannabe racetrack shit or some boomer archetype. The millennial 'nu-cafe' looks seems to dominate everyone that is trying at all. Wind and Throttle for women's gear has a few interesting pieces, Gasolina boots are mega quality but still stuck in old design tropes, it's hard.

Of the major brands, I think Revit is doing the best with a modern aesthetic but even then it's really hit or miss. I do like my Akira Air jacket from them. I think one piece suits are a massive missed fashion opportunity in general - in and out of moto. The /fa/ long sleeve jumpsuit scene really needs to take off.

Tire repair kit and whatever else. As for drivers, most bikes only use ~5 different sizes of bolts. Then just some jb weld or other adhesives for repairing broken levers. Depends how far you're going too I guess. Some people even pack chain tools and stuff.

i call bullshit. i have my fair share of grievances with acronym post-nike deal, from ridiculous price increases, relocating factories to china for retail drops, endless regurgitations of their "classics" without any real innovation, their retarded nfts they did for the asus laptop to errolson just being a greedy hypocritical annoying cunt in general. there've been issues with size tags falling off in recent years due to cheap adhesive on the t-shirts, zippers sewn-in in the wrong direction, goretex delamination because some of you retards don't wash your clothes regularly or sweat too much wearing goretex jackets in the california sun.

but i have never ever seen much less heard about a p24a-s falling apart after a year, ever. i've been using stotz p10s that i bought in 2012 and worn almost daily and they're near indestructable. i've taken my p24a-s through hikes and forests; there's not a single tear, scruff or loose thread on them.

My soul ain’t for y’all ever, fake channers.

Y’all just here because you’re scared of me. Rooting around in threads terrified of finding real SOUL. Like it’s going to kill you.
Screeching at it like it’s going to stop it.

My world. My people. My community.
It’s beautiful, fashionable, and lovely.

Face it, the slightest spark of love in any of my people gives me all I want. And my people carry their sparks to truer communities. None of my people hang out here except a couple and that’s still enough to drive y’all into being to lowliest lowlives.

I love that Israel died. We plant gardens over its corpse. Helps the rot.

I regret ever welcoming y’all here. Truer channers than I would probably of actually hunted down y’all and killed y’all by now if I didn’t hold them back.

Blessings to truer channers and Nazis.
All now see I was wrong about them.
The true heroes of the story.
True souls.
