I really don't understand, companies make mistakes and it seems like some of the mistakes were yours since you didn't know they use specific tongue leather and if you want it to have the same leather for the tongue as the rest of the boot you'd have to specify that.

I've regretted so many times buying Vibergs. The tongue is not gusseted and it's always slipping to the side, I had to cut two pairs of slits to pass the cords in between. The 2030 last also sucks major balls, it's so narrow for an average men's feet, I keep trying to stretch them but they don't give. The suede is meh but I'm glad I didn't spend more in some other crazy limited edition leather specifically made for redditors. Also there's little to no cushion, I have other boots with dainite soles and are a much better feel.

I personally would advise to avoid Vibergs at all costs, the Canadian Jews are also hiking up those prices like rockets to the moon, for the same price you could get something that's really high quality maybe even bespoke or MTO.

Got them on sale brand new but they were final sales with no returns so I decided to keep them... Maybe next year I'll get a pair of Coninstons

saw vibergs in a brick-and-mortar store couple years ago completely not recognizing what they were initially, genuinely thought it must be oak street or something on that level at a glance
they struck me as painfully generic as far as silhouette and design, but the color piqued my interest
picked them up to see the viberg logo on the sock liner and i almost laughed how underwhelming they were
tried them on and the fit was exactly how you descibed
no cushioning, almost as bad as the iron ranger
last definitely not anatomical, pressure spots that are bordering on uncomfortale, definitely nothing i would want to gamble breaking in hoping it might go away eventually

No but sorta. Your feet "spread" a bit to the sides if you weight a lot. Moreso if you spend a lot of time on your feet. Losing 25kg mght reduce said spread, not enough to change sizes, probably, but enough to notice lyour shoes a bit looser. That depends on how much you weight, though. Going from 100kg to 75kg might be noticeable, going from 150 to 125 won't.

Had these for a while as work boots (auto). Waiting on my Nick’s. Pretty much check all my boxes except they have a fiberboard midsole and are made in China (used to be USA). Insole is shit but I swapped it. Also a cotton counter cover and vamp liner for what it’s worth. They even have a genuine leather welt. They also have an alternate sole that’s chunky but clean from outside unlike the Vibram commando. If you know anything similar let me know, I’ve always loved this style of work boot without all the bullshit “features,” just bare bones.

>> No.17808303

all of the indonesian/chinese makers that have been around long enough to build some rapport have jacked prices up so much it's far from being a deal (if it ever was honestly), especially if you want name brand leathers and not weird "local" mystery meat
and yet all the risks and hoops you have to jump through are still there, the crappy communication, the dodgy ordering process, gambling on sizing/fit, half a year+ waiting times, not knowing what you're going to get or if you're going to get anything in the end
also you are not getting the meticulously handmade boot that it was hyped up to be in the past
obvious defects happen and they send them out anyway, because they just don't have the means to remake a boot far enough in production
people have noted that the quality in finishing has dropped almost universally, enough of them have been resoled to discover the internals are made of absolute shit materials
they frequently send out boots with different option than what was ordered and that's almost expected at this point
don't hope for returns or any customer service

also a maker being around for x years doesn't mean shit as far as being legit
look at santalum, they made boots for years, collabed with pigeon tree crafting and suddenly one day disappeared with the money never to be heard from again

a man's gotta get a paycheck somehow. i appreciate how much of an unapologetic shill he is for them since it means i can completely ignore it if anyone tries to bring up stridewise to pretend thursday is good. i bought a filson and flint and tinder last year to see which i liked better, sent the flint and tinder back. i guess it's not for everyone, but i liked the heavier weight of the filson jacket. it's also easier to layer under for winter without having to size up and have off proportions.

Could someone reccomend some nice boots for work? I walk dogs for a living, so that means a lot of driving around - something lightweight that doesn't go above the ankles, waterproof would be nice too

I've had a few expensive boots so far and they all start falling apart after 4 months

can anyone suggest anything?

Doc Shitons used to be great, until they started making them in little Asian villages.
I bought most of mine in the 90s,
The newer soles since then are softer, you can tell by squeezing them that they fold easily compared to the older ones and create this
>Taco Seam on the bottom
The Old Oxbloods were so aesthetically pleasing I wear them with my Hugo Boss Suit.
But if you are going to do real work, with real men, then they are trash and you should only ever wear Red Wings or Worx
Hi-Tecs also suffered the same fat as Docs.

I wore those shit kickers every day for ten years and they had replaced the sole once before for no charge. White’s will be the same in time.
