it's funny how these companies like swatch make a big deal of using some recycled materials, in their products that are designed to be disposable and will just sit in some trash heap after they break in a few years
I agree that a mechanical movement that cannot be repaired is absurd. why not just go with quartz then?

It is great, but get the version on the bracelet. It's cheaper to buy the strap and buckle separately than if you want to get the bracelet later.

The bracelet is excellent, by the way. It has a nice microadjust, the links are very flat, it's got a taper, and the clasp is much smaller than the other Seamasters.

The GOAT strap for it is a textured rubber dive strap. That makes it look most like a 60's era diver, I think.

The point of the Sistem51 wasn't sustainability. It was a technological demonstration. Who else can build an automatic movement completely from start to finish without a single human involved? That movement was designed from the very ground up for that purpose. The '51' refers to the number of parts, which is way less than a normal automatic movement.

The industrialization of the process is actually very interesting, but there are rarely enough technical people ITT for that discussion. It gets drowned out by autists screeching about a lack of COSC or something.

Not really.

As has already been mentioned ITT, this thing is not meant to be serviced, but to minimize the number of parts and machine operations needed to make it, so the traditional Swiss gear train design is abandoned in favor of a totally integrated movement and winding mechanism.

Subtly revealing it's only the brand that matters to them, and lmao, imagine caring that much about branding when you've really nothing to prove to anyone with your "fuck you money".

Like a luxury watch can be worth 10-20x as much as other watches because they're genuinely 10x better, or that value is purely found on the dial and while so many will claim it's the latter, clearly for this and that Swatch Collab to weaken luxury brands, it has to be the latter.

>Can anyone tell me why it seems like the MoonSwatch and the Fifteen Fathoms make the poors MORE upset than any actual expensive watches?
>I would imagine they'd be pleased that there are pieces available in their end of the market that are getting attention.

The poors are pre-emptively mad about the hype and speculation that will drive up prices beyond what they're able to pay. It's like how sneaker collectors bitched about speculators shutting them out of their own hobby.

I think with the MoonSwatch, in particular, (and this probably won't be the case with the FF) is that a lot of poors scrimped and scrounged and managed to buy a used Speedmaster Pro. They were the ones who were bitching about the dilution of the brand, like what >>17794137 alluded to. it bothered them that their trophy watch had a cheap plastic equivalent. There aren't that many FF owners out there and those people probably don't fucking care about the Swatch collab.

>> No.17794162

>>17794137
The irony is that a Blancpain FF is going to be many times better than a Swatch FF and serves to prove the superiority of luxury watches over pleb trash, while you get the Chinese brands that manage to be way better than the Swatch and much closer to Blancpain for less than the Swatch but few are seething about AliExpress watches "cheapening" the luxury watch brands simply because they don't have the brand on them.

So it's obvious it is just the branding that's important, the Chinese *could* be (not suggesting they are) making watches for a fraction of the price but far better made and spec'd than their luxury counterparts and people would still be saying the luxury brands are well worth the premium simply because of branding and the price barrier most can't afford.

That's why /wt/ is trash.

Also it's not like the MoonSwatch is any more of a gimmick than the regular Moonwatch is, having seen the box and everything that comes with it, it barely even seems like one has bought a luxury watch, but instead a souvenir bought from the Cape Canaveral gift shop as a piece of NASA memorabilia.

Other than that Omega have got the Seamaster 300 which obviously they paid top dollar for it to be James Bond's watch since 1995 and again market the shit out of that fact so again you don't feel like you're buying a watch, you feel like someone who had an absent father and are desperate for a father figure and found on in James Bond, a fictional character you desperately try to emulate for a lack of direction in becoming a man, no unpretentious inspirator whom you once said "one day I want to be just like you!" having felt the respect people have for someone who does something and does it well. No instead you need suits, vodka martinis and of course the official Bond watch to feel respectable.

There's nothing Swatch has done to make the Omega brand any more gimmicky than it already is. If the moon landings are proven to be hoaxes and Invicta outbids Omega for James Bond's wrist then they will essentially lose all their value as far as their marketing department is concerned.

I would prefer the watch size to be a normal size of around 36mm or smaller so that it does not interfere with my training. I would also like the watch to have a timer so I can precisely time my training drills. Thank you for your consideration. シュギウアマ, out!!!

I think it's both. I don't see how anyone on any side of the spectrum could really be pleased by these watches. Both wealthy and poor watch people know that if you're interested in buying a $300-600 watch there's no shortage of high quality steel watches with respectable stats. Why on earth would you ever pay $400 for a plastic watch? Why would you buy a "dive watch" that has under 100m water resistance for that money? And, I reiterate, a fucking plastic case? It's just stupid. Do they even have sapphire crystals? What would justify this cost?

If they went with the usual Swatch business model of making quirky reliable shitters for a low price that would be one thing. If the Moonswatch and this were under $200 I'd say even that might be a little expensive but I could understand it. But they're $400, they hyped the shit out of them and didn't make enough of them so there was retarded arbitrary demand, AND they're shitty low quality and they break easily. They saw morons fall for a joke, and so accelerated the absurdity.
Why not, when morons will buy?

Not a difficult goal if you realize not doing it will result in a miserable life and therefore impose a goal and a set date where if you don't achieve it you'll kill yourself. I've set such goals numerous times and knowing the clock is ticking really forces you to act and leads to the goal being achieved. It's like if someone has your family hostage and demands 1 Million dollars and gives you an entire year. I garuntee you you'd find a way to get the money. Suddenly playing Bing Bing wahoo, or touching yourself, or sleeping around, or drinking doesn't seem appealing or even an option if you're literally up against the wire.

Most people paying off a house isn't a big deal. Average mortgage is only 300k. If you're making 80k and take on additional work and incest your money well, easily could pay it off in under 5 years.

Grand Seiko’s bracelets are outdated, underwhelming and do not match the effort they put into the case, etc.

But for me, the most disappointing thing is the accuracy of all of their non-Spring Drive movements. GS fags say that they intentionally “underpromise”, but this is bullshit as I’ve owned several GS’s automatics.

If GS actually cared, everything from the 8L and up should be made to match Rolex accuracy but I can tell you from experience that unless you get lucky, you could be gaining +8 seconds a day with many of their top models.

For a watch in that price range, that’s absolute bullshit.
