/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - WINGTIPS EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

Bought a pair of Patriot boots from Franks last night.
I called them up and told them I wanted to put a 3mm insole inside them and asked if that would change the sizing, they told me it would and to go up one width size. It's now going to be a EE width, I hope the sizing is right because idk if they will do a size exchange.

Not a boot but I got my Bonafe loafers, my first ever loafer and my second pair of Bonafes (I got a pair of boots last year).

I cannot find any flaws with them, it's all extremely well made. Suede is CF Stead Janus.

I hope I can pull them off.

no, here is why i think you shouldn't:
thunderdome patina cucks abuse their $1500 boots on purpose and that's also what they think is "cool" and looks "best". You'll notice its also the same retards that only buy the most shilled brands like Viberg.
Also don't you have to pay for access to some shitty discord to even participate?
Just wear your boots like normal and rotate them.

>nicks x2

sagara, a literally who, indonesian former whatssap MTO brand wins 2nd and 4th place out of nowhere
nicks the biggest sponsor takes 1st place and almost half of the other winning places, while white's their biggest competitior 23th and 24th in work boot division, which is the retard division, since carl murawski is head judge there
a ton of whites and alden submissions got snubbed because they don't pay up

also the culture around it has become absolute cancer and it took place just 2 times
people sizing wrong on purpose to get better more creasing, soaking their shoes in salt water to get stains, sanding the uppers to get scuffs
it's not about wearing your boots and showing it off, it's about absolutely mistreating them to their limit
a ton of them just sell them afterwards, because they have broken their toy and don't want it anymore

i check the submissions regularly and it absolutely breaks my heart to see guys participation in honesty and don't even get acknowledged

It's kind of a curse. Assuming we're right and know how to dress and for a fact dress well, we will always be judgemental towards other people at any event. Just last week we had the first meeting in the office with my team in over one year, since we work from home, and 90% of them dressed wack. I put on some pleated trousers and a shirt with some decent shoes on, not trying too hard. People showed up in star wars t-shirts and distressed skinny jeans. Pic related, the most common style in yurop. The ugliest denim color. Skinny. Cuffed way up. "Distressed". No socks/ankle socks. Random ugly snickers with 50 colors on them. No belt. Some retarded rick and morty t-shirt. Maybe I'm the autist in the situation but if you dress like this as an adult, and in the office of all places, I have no respect for you.

I like both those things, as would most of us, but I agree it's fucking bizare shit to wear to a wedding (I guess it depends how everyone else was dressed though) and even worse to then proudly post on reddit.

It is funny though that IR are classed as entry level just because they literally are the entry point for lots of people. But they're not cheap and they're pretty objectively nice boots if you can avoid looking like a depression era clown.

The fact that they were there at the start of the heritage revival in the 00s and have survived like 15 years of changing meme driven tastes by boot autists is respectable (I know they're a big vertically integrated company but still). I think a lot of people assume Red Wings are worse quality like Wolverine or Chippewa or something because they predate internet heritage boot interest and they're so may people's first pair of decent boots.

>> No.17790026

>>17790004
You are not an autist in this regard. How you present yourself is the forst thing other people see, and it informs them of everything. Including how to treat you, and what you expect of others. It is extremely important and the people that don't try are simply not worthy of respect. Unless they earn it in some other manner, of course.

I got some white's moc toes, had to return the first pair because they stripped the skin off my heel after an excruciating shift where I couldn't take them off all day. I got a size up and they were a little big even but still had the heel problem, there's a little bullshit part of the heel on every boot that sands off the back of your ankle. I put these sticky heel pads that are designed for high heels in them (pic rel) and it sort of mitigates the problem, but they're still kind of uncomfortable. Because according to their own chart they say I should take size 9,5UK since my feet are 270mm but that seems pretty excessive to me. Especially since I wear size 9UK/43EU in sneakers and you're supposed to size down in handmade boots. So I'm thinking I should be getting size 8,5UK but according to C&J size chart that is for ~264mm feet.

Going by length by itself isn’t very helpful. Find a brannock or a measuring tape and measure your heel to ball and width/circumference at the widest point in addition to length. Email C&J with your measurements and they can get you close. I’m a ~12D US on a brannock and buy TTS in US brands. For C&J I’m an 11.5E UK and a 12UK in Trickers. The problem is that as part of the Bonafe styling, you get this kind of welt when you have norvegese stitching.

Bonafe always has pronounced welts with deep fudging, I like the look on normal welts but the norvegese ones are too big.

>> No.17794471

if its MTO you can ask to trim it further, not sure if its possible with chained norvegese too.
Bonafe is extremely flexible, so it might even be possible to do with GMTO. For example they feathered the toebox for me on a GMTO.

I actually asked for the super fat welt on one of the two MTO's i currently have ongoing because i think its cool on more casual stuff sometimes.
