You're a genuine fucking moron if you think the primary factor for quality is concentration. Most of the best men's fragrances have been EdC or EDT. Aqua Di Parma, Antaeus, Aventus, Guerlain Vetiver, Musc Ravageur, Alain Delon Iquitos, Terre D'Hermes, Dior Homme, Chanel Pour Monsieur, Ambre Mythique, Escale en Indonesie, etc. Go through any list and the overwhelming majority will be EDT concentration. By and large calling something a Parfum or Extrait isn't a guarantee of quality, it's a gimmick to get suckers to grab it and it's clearly working.

Yes, anon, we know about them. We've tested them. We've compared them to the originals. They are trash and if you don't know why, here's why:
1. If you wait for a good price, designer fragrances are usually not that high in price. Eros EdP can be had below 50 bucks for 100 mL. Granted, that is still more than what the dupe cost.
2. They don't actually smell the same. They might get the cheapest designers right, but as soon as it comes to anything more refined, they quickly start falling apart. This becomes more obvious the better the perfumer of the original is. At some point, you will simply stop finding dupes. This already happens at the "Dior Homme Intense" or "Chanel Platinum Egoiste" level, so if you want a dupe of a niche fragrance, you are at a loss. They produce nothing but bad smelling trash.
3. Iteration on the point above - the dupes are for designer stuff. Niche fragrances are rarely duped, if any it's stuff like Tom Ford, of which many people have a certain opinion when it comes to being niche. The interesting niche stuff will have no dupes, at all, as a result there are simply not worth being discussed.
4. Concentration is made up. They claim to have a certain percentage of oils, but there's no legally binding definition for anything. They can claim Eau de Parfum with 30% oils, put in 10% fragrance oils and 20% vegetable oils and it wouldn't be a lie, because EdP doesn't mean 30% fragrance oils by any legally binding definition.
5. Quality? More fragrance oils = more quality? This is the point where it becomes obvious that you're intentionally trolling, but since we have a lot of newfriends coming into this thread, I still wanted to type this reply out. I don't know how more fragrance oils are supposed to be a sign of quality. There is no link between the two, none at all. As a result, I don't even know how to refute this point. Quality comes from the ingredients/raw materials and the composition, not the amount.

>They can claim Eau de Parfum with 30% oils, put in 10% fragrance oils and 20% vegetable oils and it wouldn't be a lie, because EdP doesn't mean 30% fragrance oils by any legally binding definition.

NTA but he's right about this, if you dig around on Basenotes you can find old threads discussing Alexandria and DUA doing exactly this. They aren't technically lying, fragrance has an ungodly high percentage of oil but it's inert. You don't need to analyze them on a mass spectrometer to piece this together but some true fragrance autists actually did this and the spikes corresponded to a high level of inert oils that did nothing for the smell.

For new anons: Paradoxically more essential oils in a frag doesn't always mean it's stronger either. Alcohol needs to evaporate to carry the fragrance away from your skin so you can smell it. Real Parfums and extraits often have god tier longevity but dog shit projection for that reason.

If you're just starting out, ignore labels like EdC, EdT, Parfum, Extrait, etc. They're more for marketing than the actual scent construction. Sample religiously, the same frag will smell different on two different people due to chemistry, and often different on yourself throughout the year.

There's a lot more to projection/sillage/longevity, even.
Let's consider two molecules for each property, which are included in a fragrance in the same amount.

Detection threshold:
One fragrance molecule has a detection threshold of 5 ppm, the other has one of 100 ppm. That means one of them can be detected at way lower concentrations in the air already, and as a result, it will usually have higher projection and sillage. It will also affect longevity, as you will be able to perceive it for longer if all other properties are the same.

Volatility:
One fragrance molecule has high volatility and evaporates quickly, the other one evaporates slowly. That usually means increased projection/sillage for the more volatile one and more longevity for the less volatile one, if all other properties are the same (like detection treshold).
Concentration-based scent changes:

Tenacity:
A more abstract (or more chemical) concept closely related to volatility. Due to intermolecular effects, that means interactions between various molecules, certain fragrance molecules stick to certain surfaces better (e.g. clothes or skin). If you have two molecules with the same detection threshold and volatility, but one has e.g. increased hydrogen bonding to skin, it will then become less volatile while on skin and last longer on it.

A whole bunch of other shit:
Diffusion into the skin or into the fatty layer on top can affect fragrances as well. It is often suggested to moisturize skin before applying a fragrance, and part of that is because moisturizer contains large molecules which cover the surface of the skin and do not evaporate quickly. The fragrance can diffuse into the moisturizer and will diffuse out of it slower than when evaporating directly off of the skin, being blocked and held back by the moisturizer. Then there are additional interactions with skin, sweat, bacteria, whatever else is on the skin and so on. Scents can also change with concentration.

Understood bro. I got my fix of dopamine from ordering the Areej Le Dore full set for $1550 but it started running off, so I installed Tinder and I'm back at fucking sluts to fill the void. Yesterday it was my 50th lay (at 30yo) which made me a bit retrospective about the value of chasing pussy. I was wearing Muscs Koublai Khan and she loved it. It's really confusing but so far I got only great reactions from women for a fragrance that has a renowned reputation for smelling like excrements and animal sweat. My 5ml decant is slowly finishing, so I might cop a full jar bottle. The purchase and waiting for it to arrive should give me a few more days without the void sucking me back inside.

It just seems like a hassle to apply, and if you use toothpicks, you are contaminating the oil, and if you use the glass stick, you are also doing that with whatever you have on your skin. Your post makes it seem like I wrote about what a shit frag and what a let down this was, but you're hallucinating.
Full is a great frag, not any less realistic than other jasmine frags I've tried, like Melodie de l'Amour or Jasmine Angelique, and you would know if you had put your nose anywhere near it instead of devising more new and exciting ways to make yourself look like you're cool on 4channel.

How do you properly spray parfum or even something stronger?

With single fast sprays I get a bigger mist I can't properly aim. With a slower spray I can aim better and target more area.

If I want to spray behind my ears is it fine if I just do a half spray behind my top ear and then rub it down? or should I just leave it dry there?

You really wanna make sure you’re spraying as slowly as possible, anon. Ideally you would point the nozzle towards yourself and rest your finger on the sprayer without applying any pressure, the molecules will slowly diffuse out of the bottle in your direction. It's intoxicating, the tuberose note is really dominant and the ambergris makes it last forever on your skin. I usually don't really like florals but something about this keeps me coming back for more. The tobacco, tea, oud and vanilla take a back seat to the tuberose and ambergris for me but they are blended really well. A good nose could probably pick them out.

every scent in this line works very well.
The EdT is light and clean and works all day in every season
The EdP is heavier with a touch more powder and has more interesting notes for cooler temps
The Boisee is a cleaner version with an obvious woody backing
and the Privee is rich, sweeter, with a rum+chocolate backing that works very well for date nights

Society has a generally different scent profile and is 'generic sweet'

The late orris drydown of Etruscan Water (and other Bianchi's fragrances) is the best part. It just feels like your second skin. The natural smell of skin after spending a day outside. Slightly salty (it's probably ambergris in Etruscan Water), musky and creamy. Almost like cuddling with your girlfriend on vacations after a day spent on the beach. She really mastered orris or gets some top grade stuff, as it doesn't smell trivially lipsticky and powdery (almost at all) like many iris fragrances. This is such a full, satisfying and just enjoyable chypre at all stages. Wow. Definitely not a blind buy though because it's quite vintage-smelling and not for the young crowd. I am 30 and feel like I've been pulling it off properly only recently.

Is that the polish seller on etsy?
His offering seems so generic (ISO E-Super + this, ISO E-Super + that, musk + this, musk + that) it makes me doubt his abilities to formulate frags, together with the lack of more detailed info and reviews on frag websites like fragrantica and parfumo.
The frags were also quite expensive for an apparently basement-ran operation, like €20 for 10ml, which is more expensive than most designer AND niche frags.

>> No.17787059

Those are normal prices nowadays. 2021 had 200 mL Dylan Blue at <50€. Bought Cool Water 200 mL for 28€ last year, though.

>>17786438
Because "disinfecting cuts" is not really a priority anymore, while "moisturizing skin" certainly is. Most aftershaves do not contain any moisturizing compounds, at best there's some panthenol or allantoin, and therefore suck at moisturizing. The alcohol might even dry your skin out even more. So the regular aftershave gets treated as a short lasting fragrance nowadays, and that's simply it. Aftershaves are a product of the past.

Nothing wrong with Brut as a fragrance, though. I've filled some aftershaves into spray bottles and use them like I would use a fragrance. There are some really "long-lasting" ones, like Pinaud Clubman, which easily lasts 3 hours. I wear it e.g. in the evening after I come back home from the gym, freshly showered, and got like 3 hours left before I go to bed. Perfect for occasions like that. When I get up in the morning and it's the weekend, I put on pants and go to the bakery (before showering etc.) to get something nice for breakfast, hit myself with two sprays of Hattric aftershave or something similar. Lasts 15 minutes and is perfect for that.

likeable gin+tonic vetiver frag, not 100% fresh, maybe a bit "sticky" for me, summer-spring-fall, performance is average (maybe a bit below but for this price you can just spray more)
excellent value, i bought a full bottle for fun, no regrets at all

I'm millennial unfortunately. I do wet shave and use a post shave balm that stops me having a rash.

Wearing original velvetier now, I like it, but was expecting more.

Hacivat is legitimately Aventus for the first hour. It smells 100% exactly the same to ma. After that it becomes more woody than Aventus. Do you have aventus? Then it's likely not worth it.

Ani is vaaannnnniiiiillllaaaaaa. Online the writeups say that there's a bunch of shit in this fragrance, and it's really cool that they wrote all that, but the fragrance is one thing in particular. Vaaaaaaaaaaannnnnniiiiiii you get it. Do you want to smell like vanilla?

Wu long cha is a crisp clean greed tea fragrance with a thinly sweet and musky drydown. it's not bad at all, but you have to know already whether you like green tea notes in general, or if you think they're just okay
