Well, that's live. What you see on telly, that's BS. On a more practical note, know how put your hair back in place with your hands without a mirror when you're out of the wind. Either find a hair product that allows you a re-styling like that (I use a foam, it's made to use with blow-drying), or get a haircut that doesn't rely on product that much, e. g. long hair you can put behind your ears.

Im dropping by some advice for those who are unhappy with their straight hair.
My hair is naturally flat and straight, but i manage to transform it into thick, wavy curls that spring up from my head to form a stylish pompadour with a fringe. I dont know how to describe it but its cool and unique.
I have tried countless products, styles, techniques. Heres what i do:

1. Wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo, my favorite and the best i found is gyada.
2. Wash it with water. I dont use conditioners, all the ones i tried sucked and are not good to get poofy flying hair.
3. Let it dry naturally. If you're in a hurry you can separate your hair strands with your fingers to let more air flow through. But it will still take at least 1 hour.
4. Once its fully dry its time to apply hairspray. The best i have found is bumble and bumble dryspun spray. It has a medium hold, makes your hair feel thicker, and holds it in place while still allowing you to style it with your fingers.
First of all move your head upside down, run your fingers in your hair to help create curls. Spray some dryspun in different areas while being careful to not exaggerate.
Stand up straight, finish up styling your hair the way you prefer, and spray a bit more dryspun.
If ifs a windy day or you are gonna do physical activity, apply a bit of a stronger hairspray. Just a tiny bit all around or you will weigh the hair down.

And thats it. It sounds weird and convoluted but now its just standard routine for me, and the more time you spend on your hair the better you will get at styling it.
Remember that products build up and gradually weigh the hair down, so you need to wash it when you get home. Sometimes with plain water, and 2 times a week use a clarifying shampoo.

Longhair bros, if you aren't already you need to do these:
-loosely braid your hair before you go to bed. It keeps it from getting all tangled or everything. Maybe get one of those sleep bonnets too
-unless your hair is very oily, you probably don't need shampoo that much at all.
-once your hair gets past your shoulders, learn how to use a pencil or chopsticks to keep your hair up. It's really simple and it causes less breakage than hair ties and such, plus some of them look cool
-take care of your ends, get some hair oil or something and use that.
-invest in a good hairbrush or two, I have a boar bristle brush, a wet brush for the shower, and a detailing brush.
I only wash my hair maybe once or twice a week, making sure I brush it pretty often and never heat style if I can avoid it.
