I really thought that a GMT is the most useful watch, but at the end of the day I know that an uncomplicated watch is better. I don't need more, we really don't need more. Hour, minute and second hands, you could even do without the second hand. I find a date function quite useful at times, even if it breaks the symmetry of the dial.

>What is a tuxedo dial anyway?
>The tuxedo dial's DNA is directly tied to the earliest sector dial watches of the 1920s. The most basic definition of a sector dial watch is any watch with a dial featuring concentric circles that typically separate the minute track from the rest of the dial. It segments the dial into sections and offers a pleasing contrast to the eye.

People have been getting flat-out scammed for years. Up until about 2 years ago a "Swiss" watch only had to be 40% made in Switzerland. Another words a "Swiss" watch made between 1960 - 2021 could literally be mechanism made in Switzerland but, case, hands, bezel, lugs, screws, dial everything else made in china, banged together in Switzerland. Actually a lot of Swiss people were criticizing these watch makers for cheapening the Swiss made branding. Shit like this pisses me off. Well I found a brand new Seiko SQ on Ebay that fits the requirement. It's quite beautiful and actually looks new. The seller has a lot of positive reviews but there is no warranty and they want €180. What do you think? I'm not sure about spending €180 on a literally 40 year old watch. With that money you can get a watch manufactured today and 2 years warranty. >Another words a "Swiss" watch made between 1960 - 2021 could literally be mechanism made in Switzerland but, case, hands, bezel, lugs, screws, dial everything else made in china, banged together in Switzerland.
China wasn't opened to the swiss until the new millenium and it was the Swatch Group that spearheaded it.
The dirty secret of the "swiss" watch industry before was just Germany. Cases, dials etc. Now it's all china.
Swatch had the early mover advantage in setting up in china early, but before the chinese started OEMing parts or blanks for the vast majority of mediocre swiss brands you had early scandals, really just canaries in the coal mine that were ignored, like with Franck Muller's importation of Poljot movements from Moscow, tarting them up and selling them in watches marked "swiss".

Buyers and collectors should've woken up then but there was enough cope and distractions in those early message board posts that it was all soon forgotten.

If you're going to buy something "swiss made" in "the shitter zone" of $100 to maybe $4000+ (I don't keep track but it's been creeping upward all the time), it'd be preudent to always ask the following question:
>if this watch said "MADE IN CHINA" or "MOSTLY MADE IN CHINA" or "MADE IN CHINA; SWISS ASSEMBLY" would I still want to pay the asking price?
yes? You really like it? Okay buy.
No? Feels like a rip off at that price? Okay at what price would you prefer to pay? Hell no? Buy Rolex and up.

a lot of watch enthusiasts forget an important criteria when selecting their watches: how good will i look when backhanding a bitch across her face? small watches, (most) dress watches, gay colored watches, these won’t do the trick. for me, personally, i’d want to be rocking picrel. imagine you’re walking home from the store while rocking one of these fuckers when you see some purple-haired lgbtqia2+ cunt approaching, bemoaning about the patriarch or some other nonsense. imagine the sheer perfection of looking down at this titanium beast, then with full might, backhanding the cunt across her ugly fishmouthed face. imagine the screams of terror as you casually walk away, taking another glance at the domineering aesthetics of this watch, while knowing you did your god-given duty of keeping a wretched bitch in her place. so yeah, for me, it’s this watch

My ship took part in “training exercises” with the Ukrainian Navy in the Black Sea, which were really just war game exercises. We’d instantly invade Canada or Mexico if they pulled this same sort of stunt with the Russian Navy (think Bay of Pigs) I’m vehemently familiar with Russian warships and, very specifically, the radars they carry. I bought two from Japan via C24. You pay the import taxes on top which is dependent on where you live. Yen is weak right now so you can make some real steals. Both my pieces were way under market price in Europe. Each cost about 3k and is worth more. Japs are honest and professional but talk to the dealer asking questions first to see if he's correct. When they have many good reviews it's safe to buy from them. Japs underrate the condition of their pieces because they are totally honest about it. If it's got some scratches that are normal wear and tear, they already dock it to B grade while in Europe it will be sold as A grade. Stay away from pieces without papers though.

Hey, that's what I'm wearing right now! Half of the thickness comes from the glass dome. Because glass is glass (and glass is clear) it doesn't look as beefy irl. One big flaw of this watch for me is that it wears heavier than it actually is because of weight distribution issues between the watch & strap (caused by a lack of a proper bracelet). I do agree that it's a Heuer cope and I did buy it as such. It scratched my itch for a chronograph so there's that. One thing that's not really mentioned in most YT reviews is the buttery smooth winding experience, one of the best I have.
