99% of clones are shitty. Even if opening is somewhat similar, they completely change into a chemical mess not resembling the fragrance they’re cloning after some time. There are many excellent cheap fragrances that are not clones if you’re on the budget.

>your budget
>what climate do you live

>describe your work and what do you like to do in your leisure time

>Your budget: $200 or less per 3 months
>Climate: Hot for 8 months, cold for 4 (Arizona)
>Age: early 20s (21)
>Work: I work as a software developer while I earn my degree. I like to lift, go to thrift stores, and learn math in my free time. I visit antique book stores just to buy math textbooks
>Usual fits: I have no images on this computer, but think generic college student. When its cold I will wear jeans (black or blue) or my Carhart work pants, and a sweater or hoodie. When its hot I wear jeans and a T shirt, or shorts. I have a muscular build.
After I graduate I hope to move somewhere colder, but I guess this information is not relevant now.

>Carven L’Eau Intense
It’s a great, versatile warm and hot weather fragrance that will fit your age. You can safely wear it to work and school but it’s interesting and pleasant enough for dates as well. I see it for $60 on fragrancex but you might find it cheaper.
>Jean en Provance Neroli Intense
It would be your slightly more formal hot weather fragrance. Think white shirt with three buttons undone on vacations in Italy type of vibe. It doesn’t last long but costs like $9 here in Europe, but I’m not sure if it’s available in USA that cheap.
>Encre Noire Sport
More substantial, woody fragrance with more nuances and depth. It will work as good in summer as in Spring/Autumn. Should work well when you want to wear something more for yourself. It’s $30 on fragrancex.
>Bentley for Men Absolute or L’Occitaine Eau des Baux
Your cold weather woody, more serious and smoky fragrance. You should find both for about $60. Bentley (black bottle) is a very high quality (for the price) incense and dry woody smell. Eau des Baux has more sweetness to it.
I think those 4 will cover all of the bases for you, and fit both you and your budget well. 4 bottles should last you 2 years while wearing them daily.

to my nose it's similar to Fathom V but without its dampness if that makes sense
can't really comment on performance yet but i think two sprays will last me for quite a while

Question about applying frags, dumb one but more an "ask the experienced" thing. I get the basics of it, I've used scents for years, use the basic hints off the FAQ and charts, etc. However, now I'm taking it more seriously, getting into more complex, specific scents now, and trying a variety to find what really suits me, instead of just masking myself and using gifts.

I typically apply one spray to the clavicle, two to the wrists right at the base where the hards start on the pulse point. However, I end up washing my hands a lot at work/in general life, and I've begun to notice where that's really knocking off what I applied low on the wrist, and may be affecting long-term performance. I also worry it might be rubbing off with my watch a bit, too. Which, this sounds autistic as fuck, but when I'm trying to understand the full arc of scents I'm testing to drop $200 on a bottle of, I kind of want to know what the fuck that is and get everything I can out of it.

How do any of you find performance spraying it further up the wrist, about 3-4 inches back? Is that not "pulse-y" enough to work? I specifically prefer clavicle/wrist placement because between personal style, work, and climate, I'm 99% of the time in longer rolled up sleeves and an open collar, so that's most of my exposure. Any suggestions/experience appreciated.

I generally apply one spray on the left wrist, one in the middle of the inner forearm, one on the middle of the neck, one on the side, and one on the outermost layer I'm wearing at chest height, and if I'm wearing a frag with enormous performance I might skip the wrist and the side of the neck

I live in Brazil. Can I just pretend all seasons are summer/spring and it's always day when choosing the perfume? I'm not sure whether our "cold" actually counts.
For reference, where I live the average lowest daily temperature is around 17-15ºC year round, and the average high is 25-27ºC. This is actually kinda cold by Brazilian standards. It's very dry too (literally a Savanna).
I'm basically unsure whether the perfumes that are recommended as "night" perfumes would actually be fitting here, since it's not really that cold. I supposed the kind of environment at night is still the same (closed spaces with artificial lighting), and maybe 15ºC is cold enough. Thoughts?
(I also hated most night perfumes I smelled and loved the day ones so this would be a bonus)

>>17755629
I dislike winter fragrances so take it with a grain of salt, but I kinda don't actually mind the Azzaro pour homme. I remembered hating it because it was basically the only fragrance I had growing up, but I just took a whiff of the bottle I have (feels like 12+ years now, possibly not the same formula, how long 50 ml lasted goes to show how little I enjoyed it) and it was actually kinda nice. Still mostly dislike it, but given how I despise other winter perfumes even more maybe that's a plus.

>> No.17756741

There's no science behind scents being more appropriate for different seasons or times of day. It's just things that line up with general preference. Which means you can wear whatever you want, when you want. Yeah that's a thing they do too
If you see a bunch of stores listing the same products with almost similar prices, tags and photos, it's very likely to be the same person posting on different accounts
The reviews can also be botted. Authentic reviews are more likely to have potato quality photos taken with flash on, with different backgrounds or tables/countertops. And even then, if the reviews are all about "seller was helpful" or "fast delivery" instead of describing the actual product quality, you should also be wary

Isn't it 20$ of refund + the item? I didn't read it as 20 more dollars to get it fixed, but rather that you'll get a partial 20$ reimbursement for the inconvenience and they'll send the item to get it fixed, which will take longer.
I also find it weird, but the way it was phrased made it seems as though you can either get fully reimbursed or partially reimbursed plus the item late. Might be a scam as in the item never arrives or the "fixed" item is just a fake one they'll claim is what came back from the "fixing shop" or whatever.

Chat up the frag rep at Nordstrom. Let them run their shpeal and try everything they offer you. Give honest insight and opinions and be personable and nice to them. Then when the convo is wearing down, bashfully ask for some samples if they have any, especially if you end on Givenchy, Valentino, Chanel or D&G, they will also bottle you a sample straight up if you ask nicely. I asked for a sample and not only did they bottle up some D&G Light Blue for me but he opened a drawer and handed me a fat fucking wad of sample packs so I got a huge variety of flankers of stuff

Got the Creed sample set as a gift. Quite disappointing to be honest.

Silver Mountain Water
This one I legitimately loved. I’d probably buy a bottle if the performance lasted longer than three hours. The tea note is very well done.

Green Irish Tweed
Pleasant enough smell, but it’s a lot like Cool Water to my nose, which is a fourth of the price.

Aventus
Don’t get the hype on this one, it’s smells very generic. Bleu de Chanel or Sauvage are doing 90% of what this fragrance achieves.

Millesime Imperial
Smells great, lasts about 30 minutes.

Original Vetiver
Boring, linear. Something like TF Grey Vetiver is nicer and cheaper.

Take it from someone who actually knows:
DHI does not smell like Axe Dark Temptation. Uomo Signature is the grown-up version of Axe DT. The guy claiming that Victory Elixir smells like Axe DT is also right, but it doesn't smell like the adult version of it. When in doubt, just use the Axe Dark Temptation EdT. It's what I did and it worked, but you gotta overspray or get real close, otherwise you're spraying just for yourself (as you should, but still).

>>17756435
Could have claimed that for other houses but you chose the ones that straight up stomp the entire Xerjoff catalogue with their mainstream releases alone. Then there are also Chanel's Les Exclusifs and the Dior Privee line, so it's not even a fair comparison. Just embarassing.

He was just a retail worker in a department store. It’s not like he’s got insight into chemistry of the fragrances.

There is no reason to own Aventus when there are clones that are 1/10th the price and perform better. That's before you even get to the inconsistent batching and lame marketing.

Tbh, at this point, probably every moderately attractive woman with money has had an ex boyfriend she hates who smells like Aventus. So really you're taking a gamble even with a clone.
