wt exaggerates autism. But it is true that watch aficionados are often quite autistic. Autistic people are extremists. The most autistic attitude is that of those guys who are obsessed with a one-watch collection. On the other hand, that guy who has many variations of the same watch, these guys who have to buy a casio or seiko every month. Actually, happiness is in the middle, it is best to have a small collection made up of a few quality pieces.

I’m British and served alongside French and Americans. Everyone had G-Shocks. There was no hierarchy insofar as officers having nicer watches. In fact, the majority had Baby-G’s because, despite being nominally for women, they were low profile, lightweight, comfortable and had basically the same functionality as the larger models. I only rock the larger models these days because they look cool, imo.

I saw Francois-Paul Journe at a Rolex AD in Geneve yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued looking at the empty displays, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen womens Datejust in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the watches and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each watch and put them in a bag and started to write his name on the waiting list for a GMT Master 2, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I'm actually fine with ~39mm dress watches with some caveats. I think it depends more on the case design and how proportionate the diameter is to the thickness of the watch.
>Patek
5227: 39mm x 9.24mm. Should be 35-37mm given how thin the watch is and how delicate the lugs are. It's a minimalist watch, makes no sense at 39mm.
6119: 39mm x 8.08mm. Should be 35-36mm. The Clous de Paris is visually loud and at 39mm very gaudy. The lug to lug is too big.
5226: 40mm x 8.53mm. Fine with this one as it is aping the field watch look.
>Vacheron
All the Patrimonies are laughably bad. Most of them are 40mm+, very thin dinner plates. Movements obviously too small for the case. Insulting for the money.
Traditionelle: 38mm x 7.77mm. Fine proportions due to the thick lugs.
>Lange
Special case because they don't seem to prioritize thinness on most of their watches and their cases are pretty simple, substantial blocks of precious metal. Most of their watches are appropriately proportioned but obviously get very thick as you get into the high complications.
>JLC
Tend to wear smaller than dimensions suggest due to clever case design. Master Chronograph Calendar is a lovely watch but slightly too big. The default size for the Master Ultra Thin line should be 36 or 37mm, not 39mm. Perpetual calendar looks its age. I'd like to see a new perpetual movement in this line at 37mm.

Obese boomers are the only ones buying luxury watches. The average Patek buyer probably has a BMI of 30.
It's safer and easier for brands to make one large watch that fat slobs will buy and then market it to normal people as a MANLY watch for every body else, than it is to make a normal size watch and fail at marketing it to fat boomers.
Watch brands don't care about aesthetics. They only care about money. Right now the market says obese boomers want 40mm dress watches, and every braindead idiots with 16cm wrists think it's great because Andrew Tate called them a bunch of fags on Twitter.

Out of these the Gshock DW5600 is straight out. Mineral glass front. Can't risk having real glass since even the miniscule chance of it shattering would be catastrofic.
Between the Casio MCW 100H-1A and the Swatch, I'd say thus far the Swatch looks like a better choice as it's slightly smaller, also non-recessed buttons are a plus as it's easier to use with gloves.
Toughness isn't really something I care about as I don't wear the watch for looks so I don't mind if it's scratched to hell and back. If anything I'd say the fuckton of plastic shapes jutting out of the Gshock are a detriment to it since they're more likely to get shaved off by sharp metal objects than a smoother watch design. They're probably better for impact resistance but I'm not planning to use my watch as a hammer.

Retarded design, they just slapped the logo in the middle and it's being fucked up by the hands.

Why didn't they for example design the hands in the shape of the compass hands, and then put the square below it so that it integrates in the logo at 4:37 or just put other symbols at the hours like some watches (Hamilton, Waltham) do, or anything that isn't just printing it right in the middle.

You've got a bad angle there buddy, watches always look larger from there. As a rule of thumb, the lugs should rest comfortably on your wrist, not portrude over it. Personally, I like that there is a little bit of space between the end of the lug and the width of the wrist, from both ends.

From here, it looks like it might be slightly too wide, but like said the angle could be misleading. Cool watch nevertheless though I'm not a fan of the open heart.

movement is a fine old reliable Miyota and not some sussy chinese shit. nothing special to look at, but it does have some geneva stripes. the leather strap it comes on is decent as well, I've tried on much more expensive watches with worse straps
I think the brand could fill a nice niche for people who want a cheap watch with clearly germanic design, even if their actual designs can be hit or miss. probably a slightly underrated brand
