>> No.17743375

Nothing, that’s what makes it a TF. Also the EDP is far superior, and projects way better than the parfum and the sillage is fantastic. Parfums are typically skin scents that don’t have great sillage because of the oil concentration, the trade off is they last much longer, typically.

MMM fragrances are affordable fragrances that try something new while also being universally loved fragrances. You won't see civet or any other daring notes in their composition but they just work.

this is exactly why I don’t trust a single person here who posts “reviews”. TL and ombre leather couldn’t smell any different from eachother, no where near the same DNA. You clearly haven’t tried it, there are plenty of things I haven’t tried as well - stop lying and steering anons in the wrong direction. Imagine if someone here tested ombre leather and liked it and then blind bought TL for 300$ because of your retarded lie? you’re defeating the purpose of this entire thread gen, stop being a fag and just try the frags before you give opinions.

>> No.17744633

>>17744613
I've tried both and they don't smell the same, but they do smell similar, especially in the opening. Tuscan Leather is more smoky and ashy, more "rough" and does have a sour raspberry note. Ombre Leather is more smooth and sweeter, has some cardamom and the leather drops off more quickly into an amber-heavy drydown.
Ombre Leather isn't a clone or anything, but it's clearly inspired by Tuscan, which popularised this style of linear, minimalistic leather-focused fragrance.

No I said you have a shit nose, any average person can smell both of them and say “yeah those are completely different” because they are. The leathers are presented in 2 completely different ways, and they really don’t smell that similar at all. The only thing they share is a leather note, which again are 2 very different leathers. I’d suggest going to a store and testing both again, I mean this in good faith because maybe your memory isn’t serving you well. Or if you truly own both of them as you said, go smell them right now kek.

I don't really want to join in on the retarded discussion, but the leather accord in OL and TL is not completely different. They both clearly use a similar mix of aromachemicals, probably based around suedarol or whatever that shit is called. True examples of a completely different presentation of leather would be something like Ombre Leather and Fahrenheit.
Can you guys just agree that they don't smell the same, but neither are they completely dissimilar?

My favorite tobacco frags right now are Amouage's Royal Tobacco, Tobacco Maniac by Theodoros Kalotinis, Tabac Dore by Bortnikoff, Chergui, Masque Milano's Montecristo, Sir Winston by Bortnikoff technically has tobacco absolute in it but it's definitely more a boozy floral tuberose scent. Orto Parisi's Cuoium is a wild leather frag. Oh, Sex & Cigarettes and Havana Conference by Persons of Interest are both really good tobaccos, and his Tabac Noir, I think they have a few others with tobacco notes.

I’m not the Indian kid. In contrary I think that being very heavily into vintages in 2023 is ridiculous in most but a few very specific cases. However, for sure that’s not the way any teenager should walk in this hobby. We live in a golden age of perfumery and for every fragrance of the past you can find a modern, better rendition that’s functionally equivalent. In most of cases being heavily into vintages is just a result of following steeply certain groupthink in online fragrancesphere and not a determinant of taste. And I’m saying it as a person who had hunted a few vintage Eau Sauvage and Guerlain bottles myself in the past (sold them all eventually).

For example when a scent has been your signature for years or a very important fragrance for other reasons. If NYI was to be discontinued (or heavily reformulated), I would buy probably 10-20 back up bottles. For all other of my fragrances, I would just accept that it’s the way things are and that I should say a farewell to them. Eventually I would find a new or functionally equivalent fragrance in their places that I would like as much. But to get into vintages just because you read something online, especially while being less than 10 years into this hobby is ridiculous. Unless you hold a particular, borderline academic, historical interest in them. But I haven’t met a single person like that in those threads despite coming here for years.

The entire Born In Roma line made me shake my head whenever I smelled them at any store. Granted, it's only been Born In Roma, BIR Coral Fantasy and the Valentino Donna BIR yet. It's all just a copy-paste of various mixtures of currently mass-produced fragrant chemicals. It's all just "I've smelled this before".

These arrived yesterday, my initial impression:

Tobacco Vanille
CDG2 Man
Juniper Sling

My favourites. I’ll probably cop a bottle of Tobacco Vanille for fall/winter.

Creed fragrances were all great, but poor performance. Aventus probably the best smelling (and performing) out of the three.

By The Fireplace was interesting but I can’t see when I’d wear it.

Wasn’t really a fan of the rest. I can see the appeal for Amber Sultan but it’s not for me.

I am so FUCKING tired of good fragrances costing so much, how hard can it be to put together a simple fragrance containing two accords that doesn't develop very much but has a realistic smell and good performance?
Shit like acqua di sale is completely linear and smells like myrtle and aquatic ozone, attaquer le soleil which was mentioned in this thread is supposed to only smell like labdanum, a 100ml bottle from the molecule line costs close to $100, how hard can it be to design frags?
Why should I not do it myself?
Does anyone here design their own frags, and if so what were your experiences with it?
Even simple doing enormously simple shit like putting together iso e-super, vetiveryl acetate, camphor and alcohol should yield decent results, should it not?

Finally tested picrel, I must say this is a masterpiece for me - by far the most balanced and well blended post 2020 dior Homme. Natural lemon, mixed with metallic effervescent modern woods. The dry down reminds me so much of AdG Profumo, it has that slightly Smokey, almost lotion like quality that blends perfectly into the top notes and then is pulled forward alongside the woods and citrus in the background. Very complex overall, 3 definitive stages to the frag, very very well made. One of the very few designers that will make you stand out whilst also being non offensive or replicable. Francois Demachy did it again, like sauvage I foresee this DNA being copied by other houses once people catch on to just how good it is. Truly nothing else like it on the designer market. By far the best of the post 2020 Dior Homme line, and in all honesty i personally would wear this over Dior Homme Intense because it is a year round scent, that is more mature and way less sweet. all in all 9.3/10 for me after testing once.
