Prepare your asshole for at least one week of pure agony as the plastic heel counter absolutely destroys your heels and gives you one of the worst blisters you've ever had
I own two pairs of Meermins, 1 loafer and 1 derby. I should have learned my lesson after the first time but they had a sale so I got another pair
Absolute worst break in I have ever experienced from any brand before. I'd have preferred they used fiberboard instead of the shitty rock hard plastic stiffeners they use

I had a pair of split toes. First week was an absolute nightmare. The sole and midsole got more comfortable but the heel counter never did, felt sharp around the edges. I sold them, wouldn't buy again

Lmao those are the same ones I have too. Mine are the pebble grain ones though. I wore them to work one day for 8 hours and had a blister for a week and a half. My entire side of my heel was destroyed, skin peeling, etc.
Despite the price, I can NOT recollection anyone get Meermin. Not unless they do something about their plastic heel counters

I was thinking of getting a pair myself, but these replies give me second thoughts.
What would you all recommend at a similar price point?

Made in Spain instead of China with impeccable finishing, good leather, no plastic stiffeners
I own two pairs of Carmina and two pairs of Meermins and they're not even close to comparable. Carminas are infinitely superior

if you get linea maestro then meermin is the same quality for cheaper price

>>17741085
does linnea maestro not use plastic stiffeners?

>> No.17741186

>>17741143
to my knowledge no, would be best to email them though. quality control can be hit or miss and you have to like the lasts though. if youre lucky you can get similar quality to carmina for cheaper, but if youre unlucky you will get some pretty terrible shoes

>> No.17741229

>>17741085
I'd need to see some pics of the finishing and a confirmation of whether they use the plastic stiffeners or not
I can take a pic when I get home to show you the absolutely flawless stitching and finishing of my Carminas next to the quite laughably bad Meermins
Remember, with higher prices the main thing you're getting is attention to detail, QC, and materials. At the end of the day a goodyear welt is a goodyear welt

I'm guessing that it varies by shoe/range, because they don't make the shoes themselves. The loafers are made in England, but the boots are made in Italy. "Handmade in England" is usually a good sign, because you'd assume it's coming out of the Loake factory or something, but without any specifics about the construction, it's really hard to say.

There was an /r/mfa post like a bible long about how much they suck for the price once, with the gist of it being it was founded by some "entrepreneur" on a whim who did all the customer service stuff himself to save on costs, and it showed as much quite badly

Firstly those are disgusting. Literally asos-core. Secondly why are there only two somewhat decent looking penny loafers out of the 20 they have on offer and why the fuck are they putting prints (that look like they were pulled from a 1980s cookbook) on loafers? Who the fuck buys this shit. And finally what the fuck is this moc stitch? Absolutely awful.

A retard makes retarded shoes. Colour me shocked.
