Does anyone have that pic of the guy in a really nice suit infront of the notre dame? It’s from the 50s I think and he’s holding a camera

I don't like cars but the zoomer virtue signaling about how much they hate cars is worse than the actual cars

Yeah dude, slowly growing cancer from air pollution is worse than a few cringeworthy yuppies complaining about cars online. Fucking lol

Except these zoomers live in a car-bound suburb, 100% of the time, whereas the "u" in "yuppie" stands for what?

The problem is not the anti-car part, the problem is that they shit up online discussions about transport policy by inserting themselves into issues they know nothing about, every single one of their policy proposals is the equivalent of WHOA WHAT IF WE MADE THE BIKE LANES OUT OF SOLAR PANELS WHOAAAAA DUUUUUDE and if you call them out they just screech "boomer SUV boomer cars bad" like a misfiring chatbot

That image only works if you're trying to pwn someone who is advocating for the status quo. I have more to gain from improving the status quo than the kind of person I am complaining about. I am saying transport policy discussions would be in far better shape if they were left to people with skin in the game, because we have the experience to know what isn't working, what is working, what real people want, and most importantly what's achievable. But since "urbanism" got popular on facebook (so I gather, I don't go on facebook but there is apparently a thing called the "NUMTOT group"), we have to filter through oceans of ignorant drivel and name calling and it just becomes exhausting, it's like eternal september but for transportation and I want the zoomers to just drink bleach and die

The problem with people like you is that you're fat and are not allowed be part of the discussion. We will build walkable cities. No fatties allowed.

This is a great example of the kind of "contributions" you zoomers make. Off topic, dumb, and wrong

p.s. this was my ride yesterday, granted it was a sunday so I had some spare time but it's probably about as much as you drove (I don't own a car), are you perhaps projecting about the weight thing?

like I said earlier, these youngsters normally live in suburbs with no transport options other than a personal car, their "objection" to cars is not genuine and does not come from any sincere personal values. they are normally just mad that mommy and daddy won't buy them a car of their own (underage) and they "rebel" by screeching about boomers and NIMBYs on the internet. they don't have any original ideas of their own, certainly no personal objection to cars that would survive getting their own car to drive wherever and whenever they please. it's just a form of childish petulance. a bit like a child insisting that it is a vegan now because it has discovered that they can get a rise out of their parental units that way.

as soon as these zoomers get their car, they will become the average road raging karen, complaining online about cyclists who belong on the sidewalk (or preferably nowhere at all) and how militant eco-fascists are trying to take away their freedom. it's a superficially "nonpartisan" version of putting che guevara posters up everywhere (though I put "nonpartisan" in scare quotes because they will often bundle their rebellious anti-car persona together with a supposed hatred of "conservatives"). once they have their car they will say "oh, I used to be blah blah, but now I am grown up and so will you, see all MATURE people will eventually love cars", because, as I said earlier, they don't really have an issue with cars, they have an issue with an authority figure (their parents) not complying with their entitled feelings of deserving a car, it is no different from wearing a hot topic T shirt that says "fuck you mom and dad"
