Alright, so I got a really sweet deal on a pair of basically new Alden 403's (seller only wore them for one or two days in the office, and I believe him - showed me his order receipt and he listed it shortly thereafter)

But I have to laugh a little at Alden's QC and figured I'd share with you all. Other than the finishing on the 270 welt in the pic, the boot is flawless elsewhere. It seems to me that there are only two realistic options -- Alden LHS or C&J Harvard. EG is too expensive, and some of the others I've checked out don't seem right, but I am interested what's available

I am leaning towards the Alden LHS only because the C&J Harvard seem like they may be for the more narrow-footed whereas I am quite wide (E - EEE, depending)

I also like the look of the Color #4, but worried it may be too red in the light. I don't like suede
