What do I need to care for my boots?

>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur

>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them an

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

lol their QC and finishing is dogshit. You get better quality stuff from any European shoemaker like C&J, Carmina, TLB Mallorca. Nice boots and shoes have been made in Mexico since forever. They make some of the best cowboy boots.
Their lace-up game is shit though, but with business people started flocking in, trying to copy Viberg and the likes, they are getting better at copying those designs now.
There are like a bunch of factories in Mexcio that can do carved holdfast goodyear even before Viberg implemented them.

absolutely not
unless you are willing to sift through hundreds of offers for months for an actual deal for a boot that you actually want and that's in your actual size
after doing all this homework, messaging idiots, ect. you were just better off getting what you wanted new from the start
in general, it's fucking retarded to buy someone's broken in/scuffed boot for 20% off, the equivalent of waiting for a sale

people lie in these offers so blatantly, it should make you think twice about ever buying used
dozens of people getting into "accidents" or having "foots surgery" selling boots that "don't fit anymore", when you go on their profile they forgot to delete the post of them complainong about all the defects these boots have
guys selling factory seconds as new boots, trying to make profit
blatant scalping, on shell preorders especially
tons of offers for new boots with garbage creasing patterns
>oops, i lost the CXL lottery, better try to fool some idiot into buying them from me
painting leather soles to make them look new
>worn 4-5 times
massive heel drag, worn through the stitching at the sole, the material label sticker, that they've been saving, is glued back on the sole as if it was never taken off

i don't know how many guys i've seen do this exact thing
>buy new
>wear it quite conservatively for couple of months to a year in rotation with other boots you do the same thing with
>when it's starting to show minimal wear that brushing won't fix just condition them and put out an offer
>eventually some idiot buys it
>recoup almost all the cost, in effect wear the boots for basicly nothing
>repeat
you are paying for this shit

Alright, so I got a really sweet deal on a pair of basically new Alden 403's (seller only wore them for one or two days in the office, and I believe him - showed me his order receipt and he listed it shortly thereafter)

But I have to laugh a little at Alden's QC and figured I'd share with you all. Other than the finishing on the 270 welt in the pic, the boot is flawless elsewhere. I assume this shoddy finishing is really just aesthetic and won't have an impact on performance/longevity, right? If so, how fucked am I? Thanks and enjoy

If I want to get one (1) pair of loafers, which should they be and what material/color?

It seems to me that there are only two realistic options -- Alden LHS or C&J Harvard. EG is too expensive, and some of the others I've checked out don't seem right, but I am interested what's available

I am leaning towards the Alden LHS only because the C&J Harvard seem like they may be for the more narrow-footed whereas I am quite wide (E - EEE, depending)

I also like the look of the Color #4, but worried it may be too red in the light. I don't like suede

What do you bootfags think of that Rose Anvil/Nicks boot pre-order that just happened?

I saw the dumb title on the youtube video and was surprised, watching it, how effective a sales pitch it was. But I am a suggestible consoomer.
I didn't order it. I don't really need boots and don't want to spend that much money on anything I can't try on.
Will admit it, though. Sort of want.
