Given the nature of this thread here's one I personally like its a New Zealand brand that buys swiss mechanisms typically quatz. I've had a couple like this. Under $500 USD typically but I like them more than say Swatch neither to I crap myself that I'm going to need to pay $1000s in repairs if I knock it.

Casio has pretty decent quality control but they make a lot of watches at low prices so you are bound to get something that's not perfect.
