Because of Rolex.
Rolex realized that the watch face can do more than just advertise the brand so they crammed every single bit of text they could on there, even shit that's redundant.
>Superlative Chronometer
You made the 'superlative' part up. The chronometer is pass-fail. Saying you regulate it even tighter than chronometer standard is the equivalent of "just trust me".
>Officially Certified
No shit, you can't legally put "chronometer" on your dial at all if it isn't officially certified.

Then, because Rolex is the best seller, every other brand started doing it as well. Now, if your watch doesn't have a book written on the dial, it's not a serious piece.

This is true of many expensive watches, though.

On the flip side of the coin, at least Journe is trying to do something that stands out, even if it does end up looking shitty.
Plenty of other brands are so scared of coloring outside the lines their watches end up looking stale and sterile.

A couple tips:
Set up a quick lightbox and background to make the light hitting it more diffuse. It will pick up the details without as much glare and/or shadow.
Hold the phone or camera further from the watch and use the zoom for getting details. (Also, if you don't have a stand for your phone, set it on something stable.)
Then replace the watch with a Rolex.

All your pics should be much improved, I think we'd all agree.

I had this happen to me. Not maliciously, of course. One of my brothers-in-law got some new Fossil piece of shit and we had a good long talk. He mentioned how much he liked Movados. He's not even working class. He's an attorney. He could have whatever he wanted.

Within two months I had sold off my collection as I realized that the difference between good watches and bad watches was irrelevant. I kept my father's Rolex (obviously, it's still an heirloom).
I bagged nearly a quarter mil all told and built a new dock at the lakehouse, but I regret having spent so much time worrying about trinkets.

I know you're just meme'ing but I'll give you a serious response, anyway.

JLCs generally come out of the factory with excellent accuracy. I've owned several and none has ever been worse than +/- 2 seconds per day. They still make 1000's of watches per year and no one is perfect. (Look at RolexForums for examples of guys complaining about the accuracy of their new Rolexes.)

I can check my warranty for the exact figures, but they will consider anything outside +/- 5 seconds per day as something repairable under warranty for the 7 years of the term of warranty.
In the case of the guy with the Reverso that was gaining 30 seconds per day, he was able to get his watch repaired under warranty.

Also, the Duoface has only one movement with two faces. It's not two movements.

They made some great watches back in the day, then got killed by some bad business decisions during the quartz crisis.

The resurrected Swatch version of Longines is not allowed to be as good as they could be because of their place on the Swatch hierarchy of brands.

For example, consider the 13ZN chronograph movement. It's one of the greatest chronograph movements ever made and Longines could make a fortune for Swatch if they just resumed making watches with that movement. Of course, then it would directly compete with the Omega 321 and 3861 as hand-winding chronograph movements. We can't have the cheaper brand make the more expensive one look bad.
(That's also why Omega's dress watches are so shitty, since that would pull sales from Blancpain...)

I don't think it lasts. That's why it's relegated to hands and screws and things that aren't supposed to be in constant contact with hand oils and other debris. Blued hands for example aren't just flame applied they're dipped in benzene or something like it first then the fire process happens. Rub them, touch them or scratch them and it's still just a surface coating that needs reapplication over time. I have many older pockets that have hands where the bluing has faded and needs refinishing.

I've only seen one pocketwatch where the entire case showed evidence of having been blued. I can't imagine it was a common thing since it's never talked about anywhere and no prominent collectors' examples exist. In fact it was a soldier's pocketwatch with a case made out of a base "gunmetal" so if it was commonly applied it was probably only applied to inexpensive models used by soldiers in a vain attempt to provide some rust protection, as per blueing's original purpose, and that's why you don't see many because they're all buried in the mud in Flanders.

Maybe new bluing techniques are more hardy, but I'm under the impression that it's not suitable for external use.

im far more concerned with poor service quality. i didnt go too deep into it, because i dont like aesthetics of most if not all jlc models so i couldnt be bothered to read about it. then again you can find someone complaining about every single manufacturer so its hard to say until it happens to you. i read about audemars changing warm cream white date wheels that arent produced anymore with brand new shiny white ones without even asking the customer if he wants it. i would go crazy if it happened to me and i dont even know what id do if i sent a perfectly fine working jlc to regular service only to have it returned broken

That happened to me once, though it was with an Omega. I sent my Speedmaster Pro in for service via an AD and when it came back, the winding mechanism felt extremely tight and after a few days, it also started losing time.
I went back to the AD and they never told me I was crazy or it's fine or anything like that. They promptly took it back, got Omega to do an expedited service on it, and even gave me a free strap; they were constantly apologizing the whole time. When it came back, it was perfect again.

I would go crazy too if they had told me to pound sand.

As beloved as it is here, it's not actually a super desirable watch. It's trading on c24 at about list price, if that gives you any indication.
