I saw this Seiko quartz chronograph and thought it looked pretty nice. Good proportions and not too busy looking but then I saw it was 700€. Isn't that a lot for a no name quartz chronograph? Like Seiko themselves are not no name but even though I like the design it's not something special or iconic. I was considering 500€ for the Lunar Pilot because of poor mans moonwatch and 262khz but that's my limit for a quartz watch.

Yeah but that's like saying you see more fat levi's wearers than PT Torino wearers, is it really the brand or is it just that you see a fuck ton of levi's wearers and so inevitably you'll see a lot of fat levi's wearers? You walk into any bar or restaurant and there's at least three guys with a rolex. Probably one of them is obese if you live in burgerland. Maybe it's sample size but the two sinns I've seen in my life were worn by pasty overweight guys aka 100% of them.

No offense to PT Torino, I'm sure they don't make pants for fat guys, it was just an analogy.

That's not true. They are assembled in Pforzheim.
The movements are Swiss. The cases, dials, hands, etc are all made by companies in Germany.

Granted, they're still just assembled from parts sourced from other companies, but none are Chinese.

>146 KB JPGI saw this Seiko quartz chronograph and thought it looked pretty nice.
Dude it's a fucking Seiko lmfao.

Just forget about watches as a hobby if you're not ultra-rich it's retarded to even get into it at this point, they used to be normally priced just a few years ago but now it's over forever.

does tissot gentleman powermatic 80 have better quality and finish than its quartz counterpart. i really dont want to pay 2x (350-400 bucks) if the only difference is automatic movement, especially knowing that it is nothing to write home about. plus the quartz is very thin and imo that is enouh to trump the automatic assuming all else is equal

Original Baltic complainer here. I still have the watch and haven't decided whether to return it/warranty it, or sell it onto some other poor sod. My problems were:
>runs more than +30s/day even though the movement is supposedly adjusted in 5 positions
>crown is physically difficult to wind
>watch doesn't seem to hold power reserve which implies it isn't winding itself much
I complained at first about the rotor seeming to not spin much but that seems to be slightly resolving itself so maybe it just needed to be broken in. Point is, I expected something that ran better than a Seiko 5, though maybe I should have had lower expectations for a $600 version of a movement that you don't usually see below what, 10k?

Jesus Christ is that how you see the world? “Oh damn better buy a Honda Civic even if I can afford a 3 Series, it’s just better on maintenance”.

Bro, if you are too poor to spend 10k on a watch without it needing to be “an investment”, then maybe 10k watches aren’t really made for you. Probably the worst thing about steel Rolex owners I’ve met recently is that they’re mostly online watch dorks, Honda Civic drivers, and people who want to see their watch as a 10k investment rather than just a straight up expense.

When I buy a suit, maybe I shouldn’t have it tailored? What if it hurts the resale??

Thanks for the feedback.
For the accuracy getting it set up at a watchmaker can do miracles but I wonder if your average watchmaker be willing to look at this movement since it's quite unusual. If you decide to keep it I recommend you do that.
Sorry for asking but you do leave your house while wearing it right? This is 4chan after all. In my experience even normal watches struggle to hold power when I just wear them at home shitposting all day.
