Sup?

I'm writing it once again, though I'm sure it will fall in deaf ears. My real-life friends, the ones I grew up with, don't have the means to lead a life of extravagant luxury like high-end watchmaking. I love them and I am not going to offend them by talking about these things with them. That's why I come here to talk about watches. Plus, I come to 4chan since high school.

Also, I only occasionally upload my photos, and many others times I discuss the topics in more depth, but without identifying myself, to facilitate the conversation and avoid the trolls.

There are some very good people here, with whom I occasionally have the opportunity to have interesting talks. I simply ignore the haters, because I don't have time to entertain their sad retarded delusions, their jealousy or seething.

I'll try my best, friend. All the history of recognition in the world is not going to change one single issue: why are you thinking about selling the Rolex? In some way, or another, you probably aren't happy with it, and in that case you only have a choice: sell it and buy something else with which you'll be happier. I myself like Tank better, but it's not about me, but about you. Try the Santos, and if you still are unsatisfied, you can always try again.

Thoughts on black or white dial for coke or pepsi GMT watch?

I saw this pic of a vintage Pepsi GMT-master with a white dial, and I’m kinda shocked how much I like the look compared to the standard color.
I also really like the shade of blue being darker than the modern GMTs, the new ones are weirdly bright under some light. Makes me appreciate the coke bezel more, as well.

I can’t afford any Rolexes, to be perfectly honest, but I’m thinking about trying to track down a micro brand watch with a similar color scheme.

This way you'll make sure if you do scratch up the screen you can replace the protector and it won't affect the legibility of the watch.

>are there qualities or features of an office GMT movement that would make it better or more convenient than the flyer?
The office GMT usually retains the quickset date. Flyer GMTs do not. (With an office GMT, when the crown is in the mid-way position, turning one way adjusts the date, the other way adjusts the 24-hour hand. With a flyer GMT, you can adjust the local timezone forwards and backwards.)
If you have to change the date on a flyer GMT, you have to advance the movement 24 hours manually.

The office GMT is useful if you want to know what time it is somewhere else while staying home. e.g. You're in New York, you do business with LA, so you set the 24 hour hand to LA time and you don't have to worry about scheduling morning meetings when all the West Coast guys are asleep.

Right on, keeping the date quickset could be pretty handy.
And yeah, my use case would be very much what you described. I’d like to be able to track a second time, but I most likely wouldn’t need to be updating my local time super often.
I know there’s a new cheap Miyota movement that’s a flyer, but based on the points you made, I don’t think I need to worry about it much one way or the other.
That’ll make shopping around a lot easier.
Thanks anon!

>Except Apple and Rolex*
Women don't actually care about those either.
An Apple watch is a mundane accessory. Everyone has one. That's like saying women care about your shoelaces or your undershirt.

Women know Rolex in that it's the only watch brand they really know. When a woman catches you trying to show off your watch and she wants to continue the conversation, she'll pick up on your cue and ask "Nice watch, is it a Rolex?" because that's honestly the only question she knows to ask.

Yeah, I’d never really considered the white dial before, but it’s really growing on me now that I’ve actually seen one.
You’re not wrong that there are very few options haha, there’s a vintage Rolex style San Martin, one variant that’s no-date with faux aged lume, one with a date and applied markers, and a second San Martin model in the style of the Tudor Black Bay.
Also the Lorier Hyperion Skyward in picrel, but I’m not sure how available those are second hand. It is apparently super thin, which would be cool as far as wearing daily with a variety of outfits.
Not sure how serviceable the Soprod movement in the Lorier is, but it’s probably better than whatever is the San Martin haha

I don't know who that is but the only people I know who use screen protectors do it because they want to keep their watch mint for either collecting, resale, or they are frugal. The bezel on a G-Shock protect the screen very well. I don't use screen protectors but I did get a tiny dent on a glass once when I lend out a watch and it ruined it for me. I ended up gifting it, same with a vintage watch I bought with a scrape on the side of the glass. It depends on your tolerance for scratches but they are rare on a g-shock. I think they ruin the aesthetic but if that's a concern for you I would do it.

I too find the Speedy marketing cringy , but I'm going to play devil's advocate and argue that it's not REALLY Omega's fault, but history. You see, there's always another triumph to celebrate, another winner, a deeper mark, a higher altitude, a shorter time, and each and every time a watch participates in something, a brand has the opportunity to brag about it, but nobody else has made it to the moon in 50 years, and obviously no other watch has gone to the moon as well, so the achivement is still unbeaten and relevant.
Until another watch goes to the moon (Bulova stupidly sat on the marketing opportunity until nobody cared anymore), Omega is going to market the fuck out of the Speedy.

Isopropyl is only for circuitboards as far as I know. I used it on hard plastic once and regretted it. Make sure you dry the parts that house the module very well.
