SOTD: Tauer Incense Rosé
awesome, main notes are incense+rose (wow) and tangerine (or something similar), unisex maybe a bit feminine
similar to quite a few other Tauer frags I tested (vertiver dance, rose flash, orange star), but this is the best of this bunch

today was a vintage diorella day. i think it needed another spray or two on the neck, but overall it was very beautiful and extremely invigorating. i bought a bottle of l’heure bleue while out of the house and that’s almost certainly going to be my SOTD tomorrow, or maybe my SOTN tonight.

christine is one of the better house perfumers currently installed in the old guard designer brands, but she’s very content with sticking to ellena’s transparent, minimal style, especially when it’s flankers of his existing work. her own original releases are a lot better, though i still have a hard time trying to figure out when i would ever wear H24, and with what clothing.

Speaking of Tauer. How come I can't find Lonesome Rider anywhere? Was it a limited edition thing? I was wondering how it would compare to Rien since I don't want to have too may of the same house. I mean I like 02 and 05 too but I'm not sure if I wanna buy full bottles yet. Lonesome Rider looks better on paper.

i exclusively wear buttonup shirts and tailoring, and i cannot think of a single instance where i’d wear H24 over a classic chypre or fougere. that metallic steam iron note does indeed feel loosely related to freshly ironed shirts though.

How come my new local fragrance store sells Rien for LITERALLY 50 yurobucks cheaper than anywhere else for the 100ml bottle? Could they have old batches or something maybe? Not that it should matter if they were stored correctly though. At the same time this store sells Encre Noire for example for more than Notino does. I don't get these prices at all. 50 is a big difference too, it's literally a third of the price.

And not to mention that I can also get a 15% discount. The price will then come out to almost the same as the 50ml bottle. I'm essentially getting a free 50ml Rien if I buy it. I was wondering if I should get a Rien Intense sample first and then decide, or spend my money on Tauer 02 or 05, but I can LITERALLY shower right now then walk 5 minutes and buy the Rien. For around 85 yurobucks. That's insane.

Also, fragrance for pic related? Literally Rien.

>tfw never discovered anything using the retarded charts or online reviews or lists

What I did was the smart thing, which is coming here and asking for a cheap dark daily fragrance or what's fotm. People tell you Encre Noir and that's a great starting point. Once I bought that I started getting an idea of what parfumes are like and what direction I should go towards. Lurking around here then you can start getting an idea of what's normalfag shilling and what's interesting and worth checking out. Learning about ELDO, BF, Imaginary Trannies, Tauer, Roelen, Pineward etc from people name dropping brands you can start going on fragnatica and going through the entire collection of each house and seeing how the bottles look, since obviously ugly bottle = no buy, or arab fragrance = no buy. Then you can search up which ones are available near you. For online order or even to try in person, and you can start getting samples. Slowly buying full bottles and building a respectable collection based around your personal tastes only and not some retarded online shill. A bit of gambling in here, but either way trusting some retard on the internet that says shit like "this smells like you riding a horse cock while AC/DC is playing" is more retarded than even the most yolo blind buy.

SongOTD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bvw4yDvRX0
Any other songs with fragrance reference?

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolor in the rain
Don′t bother asking for explanations
She'll just tell you that she came

In the year of the cat

She doesn′t give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow till your sense of which direction
Completely disappears

By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, "I feel my life
Just like a river running through"

The year of the cat

Why she looks at you so coolly?
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what's waiting inside

The year of the cat

Well morning comes and you′re still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you′ve thrown away your choice and lost your ticket
So you have to stay on

But the drumbeat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the new-born day
You know sometime you're bound to leave her
But for now you′re going to stay

In the year of the cat
Year of the cat

Bought Replica LSM last week. Kinda mixed on it. I really like the scent but it has weak sillage and projection.
Clean + Musky is a niche I really wanted filled, and side-by-side I like this more than Skin by Clean because the musk is stronger and it has a bit of a dirty patchouli in the base. But I put on a pretty good amount last night and then just forgot about it.

Anyways, now that I'm home and I'm comparing the Rien Intense strip with my Rien sample I'm thinking the Intense is a bit better. It's a bit less soapy, but I also think my nose is confused, because it's supposed to have more incense than leather, but I feel it's the other way around, which can't be true. Maybe it's the testing strip. I think I'll order Rien anyways. It's almost twice as cheap for barely any difference.

Sotd Dior homme parfum. PRIDE

>> No.17659632

>>17659466
Their best frag was L'eau indigo pour homme but it's discontinued

Homme EDT is a good aquatic frag. Woody, fresh, watery, moody. Bad performance but it's a very nice smell, not sweet in the slightest, very refreshing but masculine as well.

EDT Intense has nothing to do with EDT. It's sharp, tropical, there are watermelon and fig notes in there + more generic ozonic-aquatic notes. Not a bad frag but I don't really like it on me. It's more of a generic tropical summer frag, but with the Bisch akigalawood twist to make it different.

EDP is better than Intense, it's more rounded, less sharp, deeper, darker. Leather and the lack of watermelon makes it more interesting imo. It's sweet, but has quite some character. I'd describe it as fig + leather + akigalawood + water notes, basically. Pretty nice, almost full bottle worthy for me.

And the only recs I've gotten from each of those were Rien, city on fire and tauer 02. I'm not gonna check, but I'm willing to bed these specific ones aren't on the chart. Like obviously ELDO and Tauer as houses in general would be present, duh. They're the better ones. Except you guys in here like fat electrician and shit.

Headache or migraine? Fragrances don't cause headaches, only migraines. Everything else is autosuggestion. top notes can decay with time, but heart and base notes don’t really. and regardless, in the case of stuff that’s been badly reformulated, like much of classic dior or anything owned by l’oreal today, a vintage that’s gone off is still much closer to the original than a cheapened modern iteration.

well i went ahead and bought Versace Versense blind, full bottle marshalls, waited until it went on clearance so it was 32 dollars.

it's interesting. fresh spring/summer frag. the first 10 minutes are citrusy and awesome, followed by like 10 minutes of something very offputting. a sourness that almost smells like pee (could be the fig).

that sour piss smell lasts for about another 10 minutes and after that, the pear/fig combo gives off creamy, slightly sweet, green vibes and its just awesome. Wish it lasted longer but i've only worn it once so far, so i will experiment with 'overspraying' to see if i can get some more time out of it

My first fragrance Encre Noire was a blind buy. I walked in Notino. Walked towards it. Said no thanks to the girl asking me if she can help me with anything. Grabbed a box and went straight to the cashier. Got asked if I had an account or wanted to register. Said no to both. Paid for my bottle. Drove home. Sprayed it straight on my skin. Got reminded that I have a high IQ (147) and made a good choice.

WTF lmao, that dudes ass is huge.

So report on Coolwater + (m01+mandarin). Pretty damned good. Seems to make CW last like the old school CW did. The projection is mild, but after sweating my ass of I still smell it on my shirt (sprayed directly on chest so it transferred). 2 sprays of each seems polite amout, and the mandarin + the current formulation of CW really compliment each other. I feel like this combo usurps Adventus as Adventus seems a little generic.

SOTD Viktor&Rofl Spicebomb Extreme

Really loved the original Spicebomb so I was excited to try this. The scent profile of Extreme is incredible it has almost every note I love. I'm smelling lots of tobacco, pepper, vanilla and cinnamon. It feels like the perfect fall winter scent. The scent smells like it's made for someone mature, but has a modern feel to it. The opening note of the original Spicebomb is my favorite, and I fully understand why Extreme is so well loved. It takes the original and make it's more complex and layered.

With that, they made Spicebomb worse. It's simply not spicy enough, just a vanilla fragrance, one of a million out there and certainly far away from the better ones. Tobacco nowhere to be found, no pepper, just vanilla and some cinnamon-like spicyness without definition. Certainly doesn't smell mature. Forgettable entry, hyped by YouTubers because vanilla frags without any twists are a safe bet for recommendations, so that their sheepish followers can then blindbuy without disappointment.

>>17661740
No such thing. Fragrance preference is absolutely personal and has nothing to do with being a "noselet" or whatever. The term should apply to people who have never made it past their bottle of Diesel Spirit of the Brave and think they have the epitome of fragrance in their hands.

You should check out Vibrant Leather Bogoss or 9.0 (if you can find it).
The womens section may have Vetiver Pamplemousse (photorealistic grapefruit) and Amalfi Sunray (very close to TF Neroli Portofino).

Going noseblind is such a weird thing man.
When taking a shit i get noseblind to it in minutes. Yet with stronger fragrances i can still smell them for the whole day. Makes no sense to me, arent the molecules in rancid shit supposed to last longer in the air?

Acqua di Parmas chinotto di liguria and Arancia di Capri have notes that you also find in italian lemonades.

The downside is it doesn't really have an opening other than an oily herbal smell. It goes right into the drydown.

I really like Aventus because it's both masculine and "generically" appealing while actually being original with the smoky fruitiness and not smelling like masculine fragrance #73728238

What are some other niche (if you consider Creed niche, I guess a lot of people here don't) frags that combine this easy to like mass appeal with actually complex and interesting scent profiles?
I've tried the essentiel parfums samples and wasn't wowed by any of them, so something else than that since I know someone will recommend it

this is pretty much my settlement "go-to" after going through designer phase into vintage into unwearable niche phase.

the obvious ones are mfk and malle, though much of their offering has become diluted shit. don't touch pdm, absolute shit. i'd say profumum roma and chanel exclusif offer such stuff quite consistently. for more interesting choices you generally need to sample and discover the "wearable" items, e.g., papillon bengale rogue, naomi goodsir or du serail, single man moth and rabbit, halfeti leather by penhaligon (the notes on this make it seem like its a heavy leather, but its a really likeable plum), aura sublime by bijon (cecile does a very good job in general in this genre)

Costume National Homme is the first thing I think of when I read "mass-appealing but unique niche". very easy to like and yet there is not much that smells like this on the market
Jovoy Psychelique could also be a good choice, it's like a rum-soaked chocolate cake but with a lot of patchouli
