Country Club scent, second try:
Dear /frag/heads, I'm seeking some fragrance gift ideas for my 39 yo father, he'll be enjoying a two-month summer stay at a country club. During this time, he'll be engaging in activities like swimming, golfing, and playing tennis. Additionally, there's a lovely picnic area in a small forest and a couple of bars/restaurants at the club.
Which fragrances to complement the country club setting? A refreshing scent for daytime and an elegant fragrance for evening would be nice. Must be less than 200 bucks for the two bottles.
I've done some research and come across options like Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo, Chanel Allure Homme Sport, and Armani Acqua di Gio Profondo. However, I'm not very knowledgeable about colognes...
Thanks!

Looking for a perfume that smells like boxwoods or something similar if there is such a thing.
It’s a niche smell, not even sure if it would be pleasant, but it’s a nostalgia smell that takes me back to European gardens, churches, and old brick schools.
If there is something that doesn’t smell like it but has a similar vibe I would like that too.
Pic rel is only thing I found. Anyone know anything about this?

for daytime Encre Noire Sport, Terre d'Hermes or Bleu de Chanel EDT all woody but fresh, though all in a different way. good choices for a mature man who still wants to smell modern, but serious and classy.

I'm wondering the same thing, why do people love this oversweetened fruitcake shit so much? Why is "amber" even a smell? Why does everyone want to smell like a broccoli haired nightclub sweeper fuckboy queer? Why does blue no longer mean aquatic, but rather sickeningly sweet and synthetic? Why do people want to smell like strawberries and chocolate ice cream and all this shit? It smells as if you'd dunked your head in a vat of artificial flavoring, or you're such a fat lardass you literally can't stop thinking about food for a single second in your life, you even have to smell like it.

They are. I always ranting against Slumberhouse, those niggers surely paid people to hype Norne as the "best pine fragrance" on the market and had only a limited amount produced.
They made lots of money, Norne now is a legendary fragrance that literally mostly smell like smoke, nothing piney.
Similar story with niche. I had a thing for niche, but realised that some designers were as good, even better. No need to spend 400 bucks for 15ml because muh "finest ingredients".

Wearing the new Dior Homme Sport, love it and want to explore similar vibes. Are there any other summer incense frags? Aqua Di Gio Profumo came to mind, aquatic incense. Copal Azur was the niche version of that. Issue Super Majeure is a Woody smokey aquatic but I wouldn't call it incense. I also have Loewe Plata which is a 10/10 frag for me, I've never smelled anything like it. Dry mint and cool incense, sounds like it doesn't work but it's beautiful. Also never gets discussed so perfect for people who convince themselves that every adult male has Aventus.

What other incense frags would you wear in the summer?
Also are there any floral incense frags that aren't rose? I'd like to find a Narcissus or Jasmine incense fragrance.

How do you fragrance experts apply eau de toilette ?
I usually do 2 on neck 1 on back of the neck, then 2 on elbow creases, is it good ?

>> No.17648793

>>17648782
Im no expert, but i usually moisturize the area before i apply the fragrance as it lasts longer when the skin is moisturized.
I have a quite weak fragrance so i usually do about 4-5 sprays (edt)
1 on each of my wrists, 1 on the neck. Then i do a spray on my shirt. Fragrances can last a long time on clothing.

But it depends from fragrance to fragrance.

>> No.17648795

>>17648782
Depends on the fragrance. Stuff with insane sillage and in hot weather I prefer to just do one spray on the front of the neck. If it's something weaker I might do one spray on each side of the neck and even the wrists, or behind my ears.
I don't particularly care if other people can smell my frag or not, but I want to catch whiffs all day.

I fucking found what note is responsible for the delicious drydown of Aventus or in my teenager scent Mexx Fresh. It opens up with passion fruit, but dries down similar to Aventus, musky, fresh, airy. Seems like oakmoss have similar effects in fragrance, get that airiness from Drakkar Noir too(or musk is hidden in there too).
Going to test now some freshies with musk in the basenotes. I'm a sucker for the Aventus/Mexx Fresh drydown.

Tried a couple of frags a couple of times and let me tell you a couple of things:

>Mont blanc Explorer is superior to Aventus Creed because it's manlier and a bit more woody. CDNIM EDT is very similar to Aventus ONCE it dries down. Before that it's a complete mess.
>Prada L'homme and Mont blanc Legend spirit are almost identical; L'homme is more velvety, Legend spirit is more bubblegummy/sweet. Very pleasant scents
>PDM Layton and Al Haramain Détour noir are almost identical; Layton is more elegant whereas Détour noir smells cheaper because of the sharpness. You'll smell like sweet apple pie (Layton) or sweet and sour apple pie (Détour noir)
>Azzaro Chrome Extreme is literally bubble gummy blue shower gel on steroids.

Next on the list will be Prada Luna Rossa carbon, ADG Profumo and Profondo, CDNIM EDP, and L'Aventure Al Haramain

Pretty new to fragrances, starting last fall. My fall/winter favorites, having tried about 10 fall/winter samples so far (and buying some bottles also), are:
>Incense Oud
>Jubilation XXV
>Red Tobacco
>Grand Soir
>Oud Wood

For summer I already have:
>Light Blue Intense (day)
>Luna Rossa Carbon (day or night)
>Acqua di Gio Profumo (night) - favorite summer frag so far

I'm considering the following samples, for summer, also. Are any of them too similar to what I already have for summer? Are any of them shit in Anon's opinion? Any better off replaced by something else? Any other suggestions, given my fall/winter tastes?

>Chanel - Egoiste Platinum
>Charriol - Royal White
>Creed - Virgin Island Water
>Davidoff - Cool Water
>Diptyque - Philosykos EDP
>Hermes - H24
>Jeanne en Provence - Néroli Intense

Yes. Layton is an excellent, very 'crowd pleasing' scent. I'll put some on my arm and describe it

It's starts with a sweetened lavender similar to vick's vapor rub, but because its semi-sweet it's actually cooling from the levender, warm from the vapor of the apple and bergamot, and the sweetness is a mix of a vanilla-ish accord and mandarin/orange. So up front is already much more interesting than 95% of fragrances, and the complexity does not come through in most dupes.
I should note here that the vapor "heat" is the same feeling I get from Xerjoff's Naxos. That radiant heat that here brings out the apple-lavender-orange - on Naxos radiates the wood-smoke-honey. it's a very luxurious effect.
As the fragrance goes into the middle notes it comes off the orange and lavender a bit a keeps the apple, while opening up to more floral notes and it keeps the vanilla going. It goes into a mostly-floral phase with some overlying sweetness.
After that the dry down keeps the vanilla, and you start getting the woody notes and some heat from pepper and some spice from the cardamom and some green from patchouli, so a lot happens again as it goes from mid to base notes. Its meant to be a very "crowd pleasing" scent, so it's not surprising that some of the aventus accords start coming out in the end. By the way the Layton Exclusif dumps the crowd notes for darker woods and vetivers i think.

I think Layton is the easiest Niche scent to justify buying. I don't think I have ever met a single person who didn't' like the scent at any point in its drydown.

Am I wrong or is every single one of the Roja Parfum scents must more targeted for 45+ men and women? I though Elysium would be an easy blue, but even that is a much 'older' smelling blue with herbal citrus in the opening and darker greens in the mid and drydown.

Every single Roja fragrance I've sampled (Elysium, Enigma, Midsummer, Isola blu,) I though was technically great, but depressing in its scent profile.

Where to find Néroli Intense samples? I'm trying to sample a dozen new summer fragrances and this is the only one I cannot find samples of. LuckyScent has it, but only in 0.7ml, which is not enough for me, as I like to get 3ml, so I can wear it a few times, to really tell if I like it or not.

It's 8 euro. Why do you need a sample of the most basic pleasant scent that leaves your skin in a few hours?

Which ones did you try? They do tend to be too similar revolving around her typical DNA or too leathery or too feminine for me although I enjoy smelling them.
I was hoping libertine neroli would be good, but its underwhelming and smells funny, same as sex and the sea.

Sticky fingers, sticky lips (limited edition), the dark side and unspoken musk are all quite nice, but a bit too feminine to wear.

If only she'd make some classic masculine barbershop with a Bianchi twist.

>It's starts with a sweetened lavender similar to vick's vapor rub, but because its semi-sweet it's actually cooling from the levender, warm from the vapor of the apple and bergamot.

I always found it to smell like apple pie with cold vanilla sauce. I also get a melancholic feeling for some reason.

I don't even remember. I was too lazy to put them in the excel this time. Looking at my samples it seems to have been the dark side, lover's tale and black knight. I sprayed these on my body directly. Still gotta go to the mall and steal some papers form notino to try the rest.

I think they were just not made for me. My tastes are very specific and different anyways. Customer service was top tier though, I'd buy again. Maybe as gift for some bitch.
