They've got a couple of nice pieces, their El Primero Daytona rip-off is quite nice.
They don't seem like a company that has a lot of successful designs, though. They generate a TON of different designs but few of them land.
I fear that they might become the El Primero company in the same way that AP is the Royal Oak company.

As for the big date Pilot chronograph, it actually fits very comfortably. It looks big and clunky, but it's quite thin.

It's hideous, yes, but there's actually a lot of hand-work that goes into it. Zenith does skeletonization pretty well. Additionally, there's no economy of scale. They'll sell, maybe, 1000 of them over the model's lifetime but they still have to set up the tooling to make the cases, crowns, etc.

Compare to, say, Rolex, who make hundreds of thousands of steel DateJusts. They amortize the costs of the tooling much more rapidly.

I’m sure it’s well made. My problem with Zenith has never been the quality, it is with their design language which varies from inconsistent to outright schizophrenic, and I really don’t like how lots of their watches look like homages to either the Royal Oak or Royal Oak Offshore.

>My problem with Zenith has never been the quality, it is with their design language which varies from inconsistent to outright schizophrenic

We agree on this. To be sure, not every watch a company makes has to look exactly like every other watch they make, a la Rolex; and when a company has as long a history as Zenith there will be a huge variety.
However, they can't seem to decide if they want to be broadly classically-styled, or neo-vintage, or edgy and super-modern. This even extends to individual models, when they'll make a classically styled watch and then give it a modern rubber bracelet or make it comically oversized.

I would like to see them be able to maintain at least some consistency within product lines, as Breguet is able to do with the fully-modern Marine and Type XXII models, and fully classic Classique and Tradition models.
There are certainly enough good references in Zenith's catalog to do both.

And, in all fairness to Zenith, when they do a reissue, they do it right, without adding date complications that weren't in the original or making a 44mm watch out of something that was originally 37mm.

>> No.17647408

>>17647325
I agree that El Primero is getting overused, at least is just a movement rather than a specific model as the RO for Ap. Nice to read these pilots wear ok, as I would have preferred them to be a touch thinner and smaller.

>>17647366
At least they nail some design here and there, and more frequently lately imo. Defy, a38x revival and these Pilots are great examples. I just see all major manufacturers now either feel a bit stale by playing extra safe or stumble with some off designs by trying something new. While I appreciate the classics looks of the former, lately I'm more drawn by watches with a modern twist, without being too in your face. On this basis I think Zenith is on the right path compared say to Omega or Rolex which appear more stagnant with ideas.

The carbon case doesn't match the colorful rubber strap and the beach watch vibe it has going on. The T shaped counter weight is tacky as hell. The thick lettering on the bezel overpowers the rest of the watch even though it's the worst looking part. Somehow it looks even bigger than the OG too.

Tissot is a mall brand, but they're still an old name so rich fags know about it. I know guys who own ten-thousand dollar plus watches who still bought a PRX because they thought it was a fun watch, for example.

The demographic for this is probably buyers who
- already own a number of watches and regularly switches them out
- total value of collection at least $10k
- are aware of/conversant in Swiss watch history
- are interested in 1970's watch style

If they'd intended this to be someone's one-and-only watch, they would have made a black-on-black version. This is not meant to be a huge seller like the SeaStar or PRX. This is meant to remind customers that Tissot has a long history of neat designs.

Some AI wisdom for you guys:

It is possible that the most well-known watches from a brand may not be the most sold models within that brand due to factors such as price, functionality, or consumer preferences. Here are ten examples to illustrate this point:

1. Rolex: The Rolex Submariner and Daytona are iconic watches, known for their appearances in various movies and often associated with celebrities. However, more affordable models like the Oyster Perpetual or Datejust tend to sell in higher numbers due to their lower price points and classic designs.

2. Omega: Omega's Speedmaster Professional, associated with NASA space missions, is a famous model. However, the Seamaster collection, particularly the Aqua Terra and Diver 300m models, may have higher sales figures due to their versatile design and broader appeal.

3. TAG Heuer: The Monaco watch is an iconic piece known for its association with Steve McQueen. In contrast, the more moderately priced Formula 1 and Carrera collections tend to be more popular sellers for their sporty, everyday wearability.

4. Patek Philippe: The Nautilus is perhaps one of the most recognizable luxury sports watches, but the more conservative Calatrava collection is more accessible in terms of price and availability, leading to higher sales numbers.

5. Audemars Piguet: The Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore collections are known for their octagonal design. However, the lesser-known, and less expensive, Millenary collection may have comparatively higher sales due to their unique design and relatively lower price.

>> No.17648562

>>17648561
6. Breitling: The Navitimer is a famous pilot's watch, but the Superocean dive watch collection caters to a broader audience and may have higher sales due to its wider price range and versatile design.

7. Cartier: The iconic Tank watch is a well-known design, but more recently, the Ballon Bleu collection has gained popularity, with models available in various sizes and prices, making it a more accessible choice for many buyers.

8. IWC: The Portuguese collection is well-known for its elegant design, but the more affordable Pilot's Watches line, featuring the Mark series and Pilot's Chronograph, is often more popular due to its lower price range and versatile style.

9. Panerai: The Luminor collection is known for its distinctive design, but the more affordable Radiomir collection, with similar aesthetics, may have higher sales figures as it appeals to a broader market.

10. Jaeger-LeCoultre: The Reverso is a popular model with its unique reversible case design. However, the Master collection, featuring watches like the Master Ultra Thin and Master Control, may sell more units due to their classic designs and broader appeal to different tastes.

It is crucial to note that watchmakers rarely release detailed sales figures of specific models, and these examples are estimates based on market trends and various factors affecting consumer preferences.

Ideally it would be nice if everyone was independent, but we both know that's not possible. Swatch, Richmeont and LVMH are examples of good groups. Fossil and Movado are the epitomy of fashion watches. Invicta is Invicta and I don't know if Citychamp has done anything worthwhile.

Sure, here are 10 examples of how the most well-known watches are not always the most sold watches within the same brands:

1. Rolex: While the Rolex Submariner and Daytona are some of the brand's most famous watches, the Rolex Datejust is actually the brand's best-selling model.
2. Omega: The Omega Seamaster and Speedmaster are iconic watches, but the Omega Constellation is the brand's most popular model.
3. TAG Heuer: The TAG Heuer Carrera and Monaco are well-known models, but the Formula 1 is the brand's best-selling watch.
4. Breitling: The Breitling Navitimer and Chronomat are popular models, but the Colt is the brand's most sold watch.
5. Cartier: The Cartier Tank and Santos are iconic watches, but the Ballon Bleu is the brand's most popular model.

>> No.17648568

>>17648561
6. Patek Philippe: The Patek Philippe Nautilus and Calatrava are highly sought-after, but the Aquanaut is the brand's most sold watch.
7. IWC: The IWC Portuguese and Pilot's Watch are well-known models, but the Portofino is the brand's best-selling watch.

So watches that are built for harsh conditions like G-Shock along with Rolex is fine to wear in a sauna. I don’t see where I was wrong in saying that. But since you’re so affluent enough to know how Rolex would handle, why don’t you take Lange 1 for a couple hours of sauna session

It's a bad idea.

First, you already have something to commemorate your wedding: your wedding ring.
Secondly, you don't know if you'll actually like either of these watches years from now and if you'll wear them.
Thirdly, it's fair to assume you'll be making more money in the future, so buy the watch you actually want when you can afford it, instead of a used Seamaster or a quartz Explorer II rip-off.

t. I was given a Panerai for my wedding. Ask me how many times I've worn it in the past ten years.

Also, congratulations on getting married.
