Most brands are cool and will just sell you a bracelet or strap, regardless of whether you own the watch or not.

Rolex is incredibly autistic and will only sell you a bracelet for a watch you already own (and it has to be the watch's standard bracelet.) Like, if you had a two-tone Datejust and wanted to get a full-steel DJ bracelet for it, they would say no.

In either case, it will be extremely expensive though.

Tips to get a Rolex in no time with 0 purchase history
>go to AD
>ask to try on some watches
>after trying them on, ask to be put on the waiting list
>sale assistant will most likely tell you it's impossible
>EXPLICITELY say that you have the money sleeping on your account and you can wire it immediately
>also ask for the business card of the sale assistant
>call and visit the AD every now and then and ask for your sale assistant
What you need to understand is there are X Rolex available and 5*X customers. Only the most perseverant will get the call. Also you have no ideas how many people flake out once they get the call because they couldn't bare the wait. This is why ADs always sell to the same person, because they know they have the money. SAY YOU HAVE THE MONEY WAITING TO BE WIRED. REPEAT IT MULTIPLE TIMES LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT.

Do this and you'll get your Rolex in 2 months. Guaranteed.

When you spend money on a credit card you get points, each point is worth a few cents or something like that. You can redeem them for things like airline tickets or just cash. If you pay off your credit in full monthly before interest accrues your points are basically free money. I end up getting a couple grand a year across a few credit cards. The Seiko was about 800 bucks which I had already in points gained from normal spending.

Thought I’d share my experience trying to try and get my name on the list for an OP or DJ at an AD. As a foreword—I get that ADs don’t care and that they’re looking for you to spend money on other stuff but honestly I just left feeling a little bummed.

Don’t know if it had something to do with the fact that I’m a scrawny 24 year old brown guy that pulled up in a hoodie, but felt like I was shrugged off. The guy scoffed when I asked if they had anything in stock—I’m well aware they don’t usually but has it ever hurt to ask? Begrudgingly let me try on whatever they had in the case. Maybe I’m overreacting, but I went to the exact same AD 6 months ago and the different salesperson was far more engaged, helpful, and took me seriously.

For context I make $350K a year, and this was an opportunity to celebrate my first bonus out of college. I grew up dirt poor. This was something I aspired towards as a kid.

It’s a watch but thought there’d at least be a decent buying experience. But felt like pulling teeth. Overreacting? Anyone else had a similar experience, what’d you do?

Kickstarter crap. Don’t like it as much as I thought I would. Feels cheap on the wrist. Sell
>Ball Trainmaster Standard Time 135 Anniversary
Nice watch but would rather have an OP or something a little nicer. Don’t know yet.
>Laco Augsburg 39
First automatic watch. Cheaped out and got the Miota movement. Will probably replace with a more correct flieger with a Laco B style flieger with a handwound top movement.
>Chink chrono
Looked cooler online. Kind of a neat watch but just feels cheap. Would rather replace with a Speedmaster
>Sinn 104
It’s been a great watch. +2 sec/day. Only thing is I wish “made in germany” was in german and the markers were applied rather than painted on. If I get a no date sub I will likely let it go.

You can buy a proper Swiss caliber with a max 36 mill case for like 1-2k. Look for stuff in the vein of Omega Constellation from the 60s.

Yeah. Wear it every flight in the A320. It’s been a fantastic piece. Watchbuys was also really great to work with, would definitely recommend.
