I've returned. I sampled a lot, maybe about 16 or so. Will likely get a bottle of afgano and naxos at some point. I threw away most of my testers and this is what I have left:
40 Knots - 6/10. Overhyped. All that hype just to smell like laundry detergent.
Reflection - 8/10. Yea, it's safe and niche. Not much to say. Kinda boring
Roja Vetiver - 4/10 because it's basically Grey Vetiver but over double the price
Naxos - 9.5/10. Absolutely beautiful, but maybe a bit too loud/heavy/gourmandy for me to wear confidently.
Squid - 5/10. It smells like ink
P33 - 9/10. Smells great, but $450? Nope.
Black Afgano - 9/10. Usually hate oud but this is beautiful

Reporting on my Ganymede blind buy. Loving it so far, rather different than I expected, yet very much a spacy scent I think would be appropriate to the moon.

100%. Bleu is way better and has more going on. EB is just a boring lemon/bergamot with a dash of vanilla/vetiver and dogshit performance. The tonka in AHSEE is dark synthetic and nauseating. The OG AHS is okay in really hot weather, but also shit performance. BdC edt or edp are the only new Chanels I'd get. Parfum is overpriced imo for how similar to the edp it is.

Fragrances cannot cause headaches, only trigger migraines (there have been multiple studies on the subject). Headaches from fragrances comes from auto-suggestion - at some point in the past, you associated getting a headache with spraying a fragrance, even though they were unrelated, and now your mind correlates them and gives you headaches from time to time. It's probably the most common psychosomatic disease there is, because headaches are easily triggered by the body. In most cases, it's stress-related, which is why it has become such a common occurence in e.g. the fragrantica comments. People have started blind-buying frags and when they don't like them, the realization of having wasted money induces stress and gives them a headache, after which they will comment "this gives me a headache :( ". Not saying it's like that in your case, but if you can rid yourself of the association of headaches with fragrances, they might stop giving you headaches.

yea no way. it's surprisingly very smooth, but, like you said, I only put one spray on the tester. Most fragrances that have an oud accord don't actually have oud. Real oud is ridiculously expensive. It just smells like a smokey, resinous wood. I associate it with middle eastern scents.

I wouldn't say that. I think its much more of a foray into new and interesting scents that the mainstream prefumers haven't really tried. The frag itself doesn't require you to be a full on 420 blaze it person to appreciate the complexity. I've smoked pot like maybe 4 or 5 times in my life, and quit tobacco 18 years ago but I can definitely appreciate what they were going for.
>>17632121
I feel you on that, I'm 45 and just last friday had my first non-card alcohol purchase. It's a blessing to look younger than you are so enjoy it! I'm in the US too, so if you've got friends that periodically smoke resin, thats essentially a dirty version of hashish. Hashish is made by hanging the bud folded in some raw cotton or linen cloth till the sap (hashish) runs out into the cloth. Then you use some type of easily evaporatible solvent (acetone, denatured alcohol) to extract the hash from the cloth. It's a fussy and involved process, but if you live in a legal state it might be worth your while to try it if only for the scent.

I've sampled several different fragrances and have found quite a few I personally like. I'd like to buy an actual bottle now, but I'm socially inept and reading reviews for stuff has made it hard to choose what to buy. A lot of stuff I like is recommended in cold weather, but it's late spring now, and I'm a noselet, so I usually personally like the really strong scents, but apparently a lot of those are meant to be "sensual" and are for date nights. A final problem is that a lot of the stuff I like are apparently more feminine, and I'm worried people might think I'm gay for wearing them. The ones I've considered buying are:
>L'Homme Ideal Extreme (Guerlain)
>Hazel Cognac (Niche4All)
>Italica (Xerjoff)
>Dulce Diablo (Narcotica)
>Wicked Good (Gallagher)
>Sunsplosion (Simone Andreoli)
>Cocktails & Catamarans (Scent Journey)
>The Most Wanted Parfum (Azzaro)
>Stronger with You Intensely (Giorgio Armani)
I'm leaning closest towards Most Wanted since it's decisively masculine, but the reviews say it's more for sensual moments in cold weather. What would be best for a straight man to wear to a Memorial Day cookout, for example?

>> No.17632917

Latest stuff I randomly sampled:
>Reuzel Wood & Spice Solid Cologne
I gotta check this again, but it reminds me of Spicebomb Extreme. Like if somebody turned SBE into a scented candle - that waxy smell combined with SBE. It's good, although I haven't tested longevity/sillage yet.
>This is Him! Undressed
Somebody took This is Him and then dropped a soapy floral designer fragrance on top. The DNA is there, but it strays too far from This is Him. It's okay at best and certainly one of the fragrances of all time, but I feel like I have smelled it before. Some fragrance I've smelled before + This is Him = Undressed. Need to figure out which frag it is that I'm smelling in this. Until then, ignore this release and just get This is Him.

6 bottles of Giorgio for Men. Cool Water Intense if you don't mind something sweet and fruity. Why am I suggesting these cheapies? Because there is a lot of powerful stuff you can find below 100 bucks that fills a room, and these are the most powerful cheapies I can think of right now.
