>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

man you really need to nail it when you order from carmina, i made an MTO at like 2 am a while ago, when i woke up i noticed i forgot to select storm welt and selected the wrong sole.
Contacted carmina, they said "All good, now is the time to make changes", when it came it was exactly specced as i first did in the builder, they didn't do any of the changes i asked for in the email..

How long does that normally take? And does it depend on the amount of wear, or will the elastic just naturally get worse over time even with little wear?

>> No.17625093

>>17625069
Both. Elastic dies on its own faster or slower depending on the environment. But it's going to take many years. Wearing them wears them out more.
The elastic on chelsea's should be treated as replaceable like soles. Decent makes will replace it when you send them in for a reconditioning/resole if not then a *good* cobbler can do it.
Finding the latter is difficult however.

Need some advice. I've got a pair of Grant Stone boots in navy chromexcel, see pic related. I like them, they're comfortable, well made, etc. The problem is I have a hard time figuring out what goes well with them because they change color between blue and green depending on the light. Does anyone else have a pair in this shade and if so what do you wear them with? I thought blue jeans would be the default but they don't really go well with dark or raw jeans. Light blue sure, same with white or ecru. I feel like I'm retarded and missing something obvious.

I would recommend out of the brands of boots I have tried if you’re looking for a pair that will last forever wolverines they’re very good could get what you pay for. If you keep up a pair of white boots in the brand name white, they will last forever and Red Wings can be pretty well abused, and last forever I have a pair that I’ve been wearing for 18 years and I just about gonna have to get the soles replaced, they’re tough but they’re real fucking expensive

I'm glad to see my crusade against dainite (studded) has spread from here to SF.

To be entirely honest, it's only extremely uncomfortable on my Vibergs. I have two other shoes with the sole and they are not super uncomfortable, but still slippery on wet marble, and still squeaky.
So it is a bad sole in all respects (except longevity), it's just that Viberg somehow makes it even worse.

>> No.17626551

>>17626533
Like its been said before its probably that viberg lacks the cork layer so they are just inherently more uncomfortable, especially with dainite. I have the same experience, dainite is just fine on on my tricker's and c&j. I much prefer Dr. Sole supergrip over dainite though.

I like whites 350 cruiser boots in roughout but I'm based in europe.
Is there a comparable boot made in Europe ?
I really like the built to last aspect but it kinda gets a bit redundant when I have to ship my boots over half the globe to get them repaired.

Also, while we're at it, i would appreciate a half lug sole or something a bit more outdoors capable.
And if I'm super picky I wouldn't mind something with a little less stitching around the sole and a little less heel.
