I first smelled Kouros a few months ago in an airport flying to the UK, and then I went to a pub there - the scent of the bathroom in the middle of the night was exactly Kouros, and I smiled realizing I made the connection.

I can only interpret it as an experiment to see how loyal people are to fashion brands.

If you want aldehydes (which is the piss smell) you could try Versace L'Homme or Chanel no5 (which isn't really particularly feminine, could wear as a guy). These are much much more wearable and you could say that the piss smell is there to enhance something (while Kouros is literally pure piss for a while after spraying).

I haven't yet tested the originals (Silver Mountain Water and Millésime Impérial) but i can confirm that there is nothing offensive and cheap about these frags (eg. harsh opening or quality issues for the first sprays), notes and performance are in line with the reviews on the big frag sites
conclusion: all three frags in the box are great value options for spring/summer even without comparing them to their overpriced Creed counterparts

Honestly not a masculine scent. It's very unisex and the lipsticky iris is always overpowering the other warm notes.

That doesn't mean it's bad though. I have like 25 different fragrances in rotation and DHP gives me the most compliments. A more masculine iris sent is Prada Infusion Iris Cedre. Feels more "elite" and works great during summer too. Very underrated. I like to mix it with a spray of Jovoy Psychedelique. The patchouli adds another dimension and by blending them you get a very unique but pleasent scent. One spray of each on my neck lasts me all day. Even my girlfriend likes to wear that mix for work and says she's gotten so many compliments.

DHP smells good to pretty much everyone but it gets pretty one-dimensional after a while.

Would highly recommend Prada Iris Cedre if you want a more unique experience, a lot more fresh is a more summery version of DHP.

But yea I've yet to smell a single Iris scent that is traditionally masculine. They always lean more unisex

Any of you fraggots know this shit? It's a bath oil I used against eczema as a kid. One of the notes in Kouros unironically smells exactly like this oil and I need to know which one because it smells amazing.
The ingredient listing contains something called "Parfum Savane" but I couldn't find anything conclusive. It's a musky, slightly floral smell.

I actually like that DHP evolves quite a bit more than most designer fragrances. I'm sure it also depends on skin chemistry, I don't actually get that much iris off my skin, I almost get more rose at times and a lot of leather. all the comments I've seen on it mentioned it smells "nice, like sweet leather" more or less. and the far drydown is more of a chocolate, vanilla and sandalwood kind of affair for me

Which one? Regular Bottled is okay-ish, but doesn't last. Kinda boring sweet apple-cinnamon. Flankers are a mixed bag. The Scent line sucks because I don't like fruity stuff. Hugo Man and some flankers are green-ish barbershop-likes, but not with the full barbershop blast, instead a bit fresher with apple and citrus. If you like modern kouros you will probably enjoy vintage as well, but take note that it's much more potent & dirtier through e.g. the civet and oakmoss which has been reduced and eventually turned synthetic in reformulations, as the other anon pointed out as well. If you're lucky, you may still find a silver-shouldered tester bottle in perfumeries -- which means pre-2011/pre-L'Oréal -- to try out for yourself, and you should get a better feel for what kouros used to be. The older, the better, really.

Neroli Intense is a stronger clone of 4711, one of the oldest colognes that's still in production. Neroli Portofino is also a clone of the same fragrance and smells almost the same, at 20x the price. If you want to see if you'd like it, you can try to find Neroli Portofino at a local fragrance store or 4711 at a pharmacy if you happen to live in Germany.
It mostly smells like lemons and soapy white flowers, very simple and refreshing. At 10$ it's also a good blind buy.
as for TdH, haven't tried any of the clones. I hear Dunhill Icon is a bit similar but with some of that aforementioned 4711 Neroli thrown in. I get pretty good performance out of TdH, so it's worth the price for me, got it for around 60$ I believe. I prefer it more in the spring and autumn than summer, though it'd be wearable year round
