I'm still trying to decide if I should go for a Tag Heuer watch or a Tudor BB54. Like I've said in the other thread, I really like the Tag's Carrera looks but Tudor will apparently retain its value more than Tag Heuer.

The problem is that if you buy a watch just for the it's renown, theres no guarantee it'll keep that fame overtime. It's quite speculative. From what I understand, it was the case for Tag Heuer cause it used to be a very well known and respected brand in the past.

So in the end the choice is, do you want a watch that YOU will love to look at or a watch that other people will love to look at for an unknown period of time.

That being said, Tudor's watch are nice looking too.

Most people have no reason to keep track of another time zone, I only do it because I watch TV shows from there. You might need to know roughly what time it is in another zone once or twice a YEAR otherwise, and I'm betting most of those times you forgot to set your GMT gimmick anyway.

I can always see availability in Europe or China for example through the calendar without a gmt watch. Most commonly I am speaking to people in Europe from the US so having a quick glance to see the time is useful to not end up sending them emails at 10 pm

Id you're looking to tick a lot of boxes and cover a lot of bases most GMTs eliminate the need to have a bunch of watches - they're inadvertently diving watches, they track time in multiple contexts at once, and the reference on the rotating bezel still lets you time your eggs or whatever like divers do. So instead of a dress watch, a sports watch and a diver and a gmt you can get away with a dress, a sports and a GMT. Might even be able to get away with just a sports and a GMT since sports/field watches generally dress up fairly well.
