I don't own a single pair of boots.

I have a lot of sneakers, mostly black or white, mostly adidas or designer, and a few pairs of oxfords (I'm a lawyer, so they are my work shoes). What kind of boots should I buy?

I started developing a taste for moc toe boots but I don't want to look like a cosplayer (pic related). I don't know what to do.

If you're a lawyer, I'd stick to service boot styles like the Viberg 2030, or you could gravitate toward japanese companies like John Lofgren (pic related). Wearing moc toes and anything with a bulbous cap toe is going to be larp city.

Anyone see those people who walk on their toes for some reason in a jumpy sort of way? Ive seen a few of them, so I have to assume its not a singular quirk. Is it a symptom of autism or some neuromuscular thing or something?

Moc toes are divisive here. Definitely not office appropriate for a lawyer but could certainly be a good casual boot. It's unironically a classic menswear piece. If you're looking for something similar to a Moc toe boot that can also be dressed up (I'm also assuming price isn't a issue since you're a lawyer with designer shoes) I'd pick up a pair of Alden Indy boots in whatever leather best suits the rest of your wardrobe. Pic is a nicely broken pair of them in Brown Chromexcel leather, called the Alden 403. Works with suits. Works with jeans. Similar aesthetic thanks to the decorative toe sticking.

As far as wearing Mocs without looking like a tool, look too Goose the GOAT. If you're dead set on classic mocs, stick to red wing heritage or White's Perry boots. White's recently started making the Perry in a wider range of leathers.

I'm not wearing boots to work, but thanks for the suggestions, will definitely look into those.

White's MP or Semi dress. Nick's Falcon boots. Various Viberg. Trickers Stow boots. RM Williams Craftsman Chelsea or their Randwick lace up. All good options for well made boots you could work with a suit. Moc toes aren't good for that, pretty much anything with a wedge sole is going to look too casual/work wear for your profession.

Oh, well, yeah, by all means, get some heritage mocs for casual wear. There's nothing wrong with that.

Honestly get pull on workboots like this

These are Rossi but they aren't made in Australia anymore, I've switch over to some other brand called Redback which are a bit chunkier. Very very comfy and look better with age and doesn't break the bank.

Those heritage boots just look too much of a LARP to me and looks like you did research on the internet and purchased what some fashion forum told you. And desu look very out of place if you aren't white and even American .

All that good year welt sole stuff is all just a LARP. 99% of people who get into these boots just end up consooooming more and more that they barely even break in a single pair. Also for the price for those types of boots and resoles you can get basically a lifetime of pic related, and even then 10 year ls from now you might find you prefer sneakers again as opposed to boots so you didn't spend so much

Now you're just projecting. I've got had red wing meme rangers for 10 years. They've been resoled twice. I just bought my first new pair of boots since then last November. Just because you prefer disposable products so you can get excited for next product doesn't mean we all do.

This is massive cope. If you want to look like a faggot ass granola eating liberal, then get a pair of blundstone-style pull on boots. Heritage style boots are a timeless fashion, sorry you can’t afford a pair

if you want moc toes, get moc toes. The wedge soles on many of them are extremely comfy if all you are doing is walking around in a city. the key to not look like a cosplayer is to just actually wear your shoes down, don't baby them, and make sure you get sized correctly. if you get oversized boots, they will look ridiculous. if you want to play it safer, service boots are more versatile. i won't bother listing a bunch of brands without knowing your price range, but do try to do appropriate research before buying. Good bootmakers are proud to list where their leather comes from, avoid anything that says it's vegan or sustainably made. these are code words for cheap and recycled materials.

Checked it out and I wish they didn't have such ugly soles. Am I just going to meme myself into buying RM Williams?
