Honestly YOU do. Considering what a lot of hats cost back in the day and people's average wages, you have the ability to purchase a far wider range of hats today than back when. Maybe if you were landed gentry in London or Paris or Rockefeller out in New York you'd have more options, but for most people earning what they did in most places you can affordably acquire far more.
