Need some watch suggestions, here are some specs and explanations
> 150 euro
> Whatever type an explorer or prx is
> Prefer automatic but it's not a must
> Metal strap

I currently own 2 watches. One is a DW5600 g shock which I use daily at work. I'm a civil engineer and work at construction sites so it fits perfectly. My second watch is a Zeppelin Atlantic (pic rel) which is use for more upscale occasions. Is like to have an offwork daily driver and in my mind an explorer type watch fits great. I'm open to suggestions tho. I like the PRX but my Atlantic is 250 euros and I am always aware not to damage it, I can't daily driver a 400+ euro one.

The fact that they kind of just look like the same watch? Every watch they make just looks so ordinary. All the divers are just divers. If you have ever seen a diver you know exactly what their diver looks like. They have a rectangle watch that looks exactly like a Cartier. If you randomly doodle a watch on paper there's probably an Oris that looks exactly like it that you can buy.

Even the guy in charge of Oris doesn't seem that interested in Oris. He'd rather make small talk with literal muppets than put some blood into making an interesting watch.

They're in the price and design dead zone. They tried to branch out with the Pro Pilot X 115 which presumably no one bought and was pretty relentlessly mocked and deservedly so. Then they try to virtue signal and bundle watches into recycled ocean plastic boxes or some shit - another flop. Their dress watches are horribly proportioned and look like $300 mall watches. Now they just keep churning out Big Crown Pointer Dates and random divers.

They're like Tudor but a lot more incoherent. I would never buy an Oris. If I was shopping in that price range I'd buy a Tudor for a sports watch and a Nomos as a dress watch that actually has a strong design and well decorated movement for the money.

it's $8000, too big, extremely questionable bracelet design, brags about 10 day power reserve but the watch is huge and not COSC certified, and they went with a "natural" titanium finish (read: unfinished). Then they flew out the big watch YouTubers to see it (and also paid for their hotels) who had reactions mixing from blatant shilling with literal corporate lines to ambivalence. The cope is that this would be a halo product or that it was the first step forward for Oris into the higher end market, but that was 3 years ago and they haven't come out with anything decent or even very interesting since.

first time a couple months ago, a waitress told my friends she "was sure Rolex here would foot the bill".
today at a get-together a guy was running a raffle for a current year model truck at $1,500usd a number, I told him no thanks and he told me "ah I'm sure you can spare a number, you could buy 10 of them just with that watch right there".
I like my watch but now I feel like selling it because I feel really self-conscious afterwards. like I subconsciously hide my left wrist so they won't realize it's actually a Seiko.

Water resistance has basically nothing to do with how durable a watch is. If you frequently smash the glass with a hammer by mistake, maybe you'd need something with higher water resistance because they usually put thicker glass in those. Realistically, you're never going to encounter a situation that breaks a thin crystal.

I'd suggest something more like a classic sports watch in the style of an Explorer because they're really tough and versatile and look good with just about anything. Almost every company makes their own version of it in slightly different styles and a lot of them are affordable, if you get it on a bracelet and get a spring bar tool it's really easy to change it up for any kind of look you want depending on what you're wearing just by putting different kinds of straps on it. I think the real key to saving money on watches is getting a few watches that can do a lot of things well. Dressy watches tend to be only dress watches, which is limiting and lame.

It's not a case of utilising Chinese production, as you can get very high quality products made there. It's the fact that fashion brands utilise the absolute cheapest of Chinese components and the cheapest factories which knock out the same product for dozens of "brands" albeit with different logos printed. Seagull, for example, make very good quality movements and watches and they are entirely Chinese. Whoever does the procurement for Breil went to a cheap factory where they use $5 chronograph movements (look up how much a Sunon PE902 costs). With other brands there is a semblance of QC, if you want maximum value for your money then again China has really good offerings from the likes of San Martin who use Seiko and Miyota movements in well finished cases and sapphire crystals.

other anons are being retarded niggers but it's true that like 99% of these non-traditional watch brands are all just chinese.

also it is in fact true that seiko and such often source parts from china, but most of their lines are assembled in factories that are overseen by the japanese, i.e. quality control is a little more predictable (even if the watch itself is a cheap piece of shit with misaligned chapter rings and such, it'll work well enough)
