I would suggest you do an SKX mod from scratch to get the hang of building watches. It's the single most modded watch, there are tonnes of parts and tutorials on how to do it out there, and it's relatively cheap.

The cases will usually list both movements that fit, and dial size.

A fairly standard combo is the NH35/36, and the ubiquitous 28.5mm dial, which fits most cases. You also have to get a movement with the crown at the right position for the case if you're using a day/date wheel, the wheels are offset.

As an example, my case fits a 28.5mm dial. The actual visible dial area is 28.1mm, because the edge is cut off by the case a bit, which is typical.

As for parts, you don't need much, and most are useful for basic maintenance anyway. A caseback opener, bracelet resizing pins, watch hand removers, watch hand appliers, a springbar tool, finger cots, foam swabs, Rodico, that's about it.

You can get most of this stuff inexpensively, here's some random shit I bought. Fancier tools are better, but you can do just fine with cheap stuff if you're slightly more careful.

Help, I am in a "jacket" situation like Tony was in The Sopranos.

My grandparents are in their 80's and my grandmother just recently discovered her grandfather's pocket watch. She is offering it to me, and by offering, I mean insisting. I do not want the fucking thing, but I know if I turn it down she is going to see it as a slight against her (she's that sort of woman). And likewise, if I take it, I am going to have to wear it every time I meet them going forward because she's going to fixate on me wearing it. You might think this is bullshit, but she once bought me a tie for Christmas several years ago and expected me to wear every time I met her. When eventually I stopped wearing it, she tried to convince my grandfather I didn't love them and that they should cut off all ties (heh) with me.

That was a 20 dollar tie, this is a watch that's over a century old. I really don't know what to do about this. If I don't take it, she'll act like I just directly insulted her. If I do take it, I have to wear it at every meeting I have with them until they die.

I have a bunch of Sinn watches, three from the ETA years and one Sellita. My take is if you're going to spend 2k on a Sinn you may as well save up a bit more and get something nicer, but if you just want a cheap beater I don't think you can go wrong with something like a used 656 if you like the looks of it. I don't think you need more than one, either.

I care more about where the trifold falls than the clasp itself, I want the bend of it to be as close to my wrist as possible so the bracelet doesn't bulge out unnaturally.

Personally, I wear bracelets backwards. I find it suits my wrist better, I find them easier to put on and take off, and I don't care about the logo being "upside down". The problem with those small clasps is they can get pretty off to one side, this is why I like longer clasps because the clasp weighs less than links, and they're always going to look pretty central because it's impossible to have them too far to one side.

You might be able to bend it a bit, but if it's digging in I'd start by taking one link off one side and then adding it to the other. Bracelet stays the same length, but the clasp will move. If you don't have any more links, often one side of the strap is shorter to begin with, so you can flip it around at the lugs and switch the clasp over.

The second richest guy I know (net worth is probably high eight figures) wears a pulsar. I don't know what his wife wears.

Otherwise, among the "rich guys" I know who wear watches, the overwhelming majority wear something "nice". By "rich guys" I mean like $250k or higher annual income or enough money to not have to ever worry about an "income" per se.

Sure they cheaped out a bit and cut corners to save money which is a bit shady considering the high price. But it's not that juicy of a controversy I don't think. It's still an in-house column wheel chrono with spring drive which is pretty neat. Maybe in the years to come they will improve the movement further if it sells well enough.

Hi /fa, first time posting.

I'll be turning 35 at the end of the month and have been thinking about buying a Seiko Presage Automatic watch.
A few stores now have them around under $600AUD, normally around $850.

I am thinking either a regular Presage or either the white or blue faced Zen Garden design watches.
Probably the leather band as I recently bought a Citizen automatic with metal band a few months ago from a trip to Japan.
I bought a Citizen Eco-drive watch for a wedding late last year, but otherwise my daily wear is a Casio G-shock G7900.

I guess really I'm wanting one because it's cheap.

Should I?

I mean pretty based desu. Michelangelo was pretty homosexual and most art has been an excuse to mainline degeneracy.

Historically, subversive elements were introduced under the guise of religiosity. "Oh haha, yeah I drew Adam and Eve naked haha, nice big titties haha you know they were naked right haha?" "Oh yeah all the goddesses in the judgement of paris? Totally naked chicks haha nbd no problem"

Then it's bullshit about "exploring the human form" whatever. Today it'll be a chick shitting chocolate pudding out of her asshole while deep throating Satan's dick and it'll be "a feminist commentary on the oppressive patriarchal capitalist heteronormative hegemony".

It's all an excuse to have a bunch of subversive shit and pretend like you're sophisticated for looking at it.

In a perfect world all watches but Rolex would be confiscated and made illegal. Only Rolex owners would be able to know the exact time.
That way if poorfags wanted to know what time it is they had to go to Rolex owners who (for a small fee) would tell them the time.
